This is set partially in World War II and partially in the present day. More accurately, the present is used a frame for a young girl to learn about an ancestress in World War II. It is a fascinating book that combines some widely known aspects of the Jewish atrocities committed by the Nazis with lesser-known aspects of those atrocities. It is REALLY well done.

Hmm maybe Gilt by Katherine Longshore it looks pretty good. There was this other one too I was thinking of but I completely forgot >.<
