Here are some of the new teen titles being released this month. Which ones are you most excited to read? Share your thoughts in this thread.

Cress (Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer
With Cress, Marissa Meyer continues her Lunar Chronicles series of re-imagined futuristic fairy tales. In this updated version of Rapunzel, Cress has spent her whole life trapped in a satellite orbiting Earth. She’s used that time to become an excellent hacker, a skill that will be called upon when she joins Cinder, Captain Thorn, Scarlet, and Wolf to bring down the evil Queen Levana.

Cress was released on February 4th.

Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith
Sixteen-year-old Austin Szerba interweaves the story of his Polish legacy with the storyof how he and his best friend , Robby, brought about the end of humanity and the rise of an army of unstoppable, six-foot tall praying mantises in small-town Iowa.

To make matters worse, Austin's hormones are totally oblivious; they don't care that the world is in utter chaos: Austin is in love with his girlfriend, Shann, but remains confused about his sexual orientation. He's stewing in a self-professed constant state of maximum horniness, directed at both Robby and Shann. Ultimately, it's up to Austin to save the world and propagate the species in this sci-fright journey of survival, sex, and the complex realities of the human condition.

Grasshopper Jungle will be released on February 11th.

White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Jennifer Armentrout begins her new Dark Elements series with the story of Layla, a seventeen year old who’s part demon, part gargoyle. Layla was raised among a group of gargoyles who hunt demons, so she’s always had to hide her demon side from those closest to her. Adding to her problems, Layla is cursed with a kiss that will kill anyone with a soul, including her gargoyle crush, Zayne. When Layla meets Roth, a hot demon whose lack of a soul means that she can kiss him, Layla has trouble staying away. But when a violent demon uprising begins, trusting Roth could lead to death not only for Layla, but for her people.

White Hot Kiss will be released on February 25th.

Alienated (Alienated, #1) by Melissa Landers
Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

Alienated was released on February 4th.

Fire & Flood (Fire & Flood, #1) by Victoria Scott
Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.

Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It's an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother's illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there's no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.

The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?

Fire & Flood will be released on February 25th.

Irene | 3 comments In addition to all these new books, I heard that a hard copy of the short stories for the "Selection" series came out this month. I was wondering if Indian Trails Public Library will be able to get a copy of that book?

Hi Irene,

Thanks for your inquiry! You are correct in that Kiera Cass has written two novellas that will be available soon, combined together into one book.

"The Prince" opens the week before the Selection begins and follows Maxon through the first day of the competition.

"The Guard" gives an inside look at Aspen's life within the palace walls - and the truth about a guard's world that America will never know.

I've ordered this book and it should be available for check-out soon. "The One" the third and final book in the series, will be released on May 6th and has been ordered as well. Glad you like the series and keep on reading!
