Lauren Monroe (laurenmonroe) | 20 comments Thank you so much for your help! The book is available at Barnes & Noble through this link and wondering how the pull-down menu gets fixed because when you click on it, it doesn't find the book -- this might help:

Tomorrow or early in week, I expect it will be in iTunes/iBooks also. And there is a paperback link on Amazon

Deon (deonva) | 3389 comments Book links to other sites are customized on a per-user basis (each user chooses theirs), not a per-book basis.
Every user has the option to customize the links they see on their edit profile's booklinks tab.

If you want to add the B&N edition you will need to provide that info in order to add the edition (we can't take the info from booksellers that are not publishers (exception being amazon)

also, it is not necessary to delete your previous posts

Lauren Monroe (laurenmonroe) | 20 comments Thanks -- so B&N must send that information or I do? Your response seems to be that I do and I have the link that I gave you. What else would you need?

message 5: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulaan) | 7027 comments THe information written here by you, as the author.

We cannot click the link and take the information from BN

message 6: by Deon (new)

Deon (deonva) | 3389 comments No B&N or other bookseller links can be used as sources for covers or other book data

you as the author can provide the info here.

* ISBN (or ASIN)
* Publisher
* Publication date
* Format

Ine | 263 comments I believe we can use the BNID - if not any other information - in the ISBN13 field for a separate Nook edition, because it is in the URL? Like so:

By the way Lauren, if you want to claim your author profile, you can do so here:

Deon (deonva) | 3389 comments No Ine, we can not use info from the link

"No B&N or other bookseller links can be used as sources
for covers or other book data"
"extracting them from links on author sites" is allowable

Z-squared said "Now the wrinkle on the prune is we're not allowed to get data from B&N's website for legal issues EXCEPT for what's in the URL." And the BNID is in the URL.

Deon (deonva) | 3389 comments If that was the case, I think it would have been made more clear by Rivka (or staff) in other posts. My understanding of the policies come from staff posts (Rivka or others), not other librarians.

message 11: by Ine (new)

Ine | 263 comments I thought super librarians were staff, or at least more involved in policy than regular librarians.

Deon (deonva) | 3389 comments nope, just upgraded librarians

Emy (emypt) | 5029 comments Rivka confirmed to me a few weeks (months?) back that we CANNOT take the data from the URL. Will see if I can find the quote for peoples :) I remembered since it was my mess up adding it... ;)

rivka wrote: "We can only do that if the URL was provided by the author."

Specific context - only for obtaining BNID from the URL field, if provided by the author, and for NOTHING else except proof of existence.

message 15: by Deon (new)

Deon (deonva) | 3389 comments Here are the 4 editions.

As I said before, do to legal issues, we CANNOT use the any info from the booksellers (e.g. B&N, Itunes, etc) except Amazon.

In the future, please provide info here, not links. The link is not going to help as we can not use the info from it.
