๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Name: Svea Norén
Age: 20
Species: Human
Occupation: Bodyguard for Princess Kalene

Personality: Svea is a loner who takes her job very seriously although she doesn't always listen to authority, feeling as though she knows what's best the majority of the time. She is protective of the princess because she sees the girl as naïve and far too trusting in others, which can lead her to potential danger. Svea is a self-perfectionist, always striving to be the best warrior that she can be and as a result, she is very hard on herself. She also has a bit of a temper.
History: Born and raised by her mother (she doesn't know who her father is), Svea has led a fairly normal life. She joined the military at sixteen and after a year, her superiors saw the potential in her and offered her to train as a special agent, which she happily accepted. She has had several noteworthy jobs; she has been Princess Kalene's bodyguard for a little over a year. She is about to accompany the princess to another planet to make sure she reaches her future husband safely.

Emma Name: Kalene Angelika Marz

Age: 22

Personality: Kalene is a very loud, talkative person. She's always optimistic, seeing the good side of people and situations. As a result she's generally also very nice, and always willing to help out other people. The problem with this is that she is often a bit naive, and lets people take advantage of her kindness.
History: Born into a royal position, Kalene had an easy if not always enjoyable childhood, filled with tutors and luxury, but also bodyguards and not many friends. She was fairly close to both of her parents, although more with her mother than her father, and was not upset with her arranged marriage. She is about to travel to another planet with her bodyguard Svea to meet her future husband.

message 3: by Emma (new)

Emma Kalene paced around her bedroom, suitcases on the floor, trying to remember anything else that she might want to pack with her. She was supposed to be ready to leave at that point, but she needed to make sure she had everything she needed, and everything she would want. She stopped pacing to go through everything she had, twirling the necklace she was wearing around her fingers as she did so. After a minute she walked over to her closet, which was still at least half full--it wasn't as if she'd never be coming back, she reminded herself, and it was actually better that she'd leave a few of her things there. She sighed, and exited the large closet, not wanting to leave her home behind, now that she only had a few minutes to stay.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Sitting calmly on one of the chairs in Kalene's room, Svea kept her gaze out the window, every flying vehicle that zoomed by suspect to the bodyguard's pale blue gaze that was clear, harsh and terribly unnerving. Her eyes had always held all of her emotions that she tried so hard to suppress from the rest of her demeanor and it was for this reason that they always seemed so stern; if she didn't channel some kind of emotion through them, then they would give away how soft she was inside.

She heard the princess sigh and without turning her attention away from the wall sized window that was made of bulletproof glass, Svea asked, "Is everything alright, your highness?"

message 5: by Emma (new)

Emma "Oh, yes, everything's fine. I just don't really want to leave," Kalene explained with a small smile, her eyes still wandering around her room. "But I suppose there's not much to do about that at this point, is there?" They were scheduled to depart later that very day. "How are you doing, Svea?" the princess asked, wanting to talk, if only to keep her mind from wandering too much. The more she thought about leaving, the more she was sure she was forgetting something, the more she wanted to stay. Take a nap. Do something that made that day as normal as any other day.

message 6: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (last edited Feb 08, 2014 11:59AM) (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "Quite well, your highness," Svea replied automatically, although inside she was a bundle of nerves. She had been up since 5am to go for a run, then an hour of weight training, jump training and acrobatics before she went to clean out her guns and make sure they were all in shipshape. She was nervous about this trip and the rumors of guerilla terrorists on the roads that had been attacking the king's cargo trains weren't helping. She didn't want to worry Kalene with all of this though, unsure if the girl was even aware of the political unrest in her father's kingdom.

message 7: by Emma (new)

Emma "That's good then." Kalene responded, sitting down in one of the chairs next to her bodyguard. "Are you nervous about the trip at all? I am." She stated, looking out the window. Kalene wasn't nervous for threats, the way she was sure Svea was, but more nervous for the sake of being nervous. Nervous because she didn't know exactly what was going to happen, nervous because she was leaving her home and comfort zone, especially since she rarely left the palace.

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) It never ceased to amaze Svea how close the princess's eye color was to her own, but then again, lots of people had ice blue eyes that tinged slightly with a pale grey, didn't they? "There is no need to be nervous, your highness, we have made sure that your trip will be save and uneventful," she replied with the barest hint of a smile on her rosebud mouth. She turned her head, her raven black tresses shifting slightly along her shoulders--she always wore it down, she hated tying it up despite what her trainers said--Svea looked Kalene in the eye and said, "Please do not worry yourself over it, Princess. You will be safe," she told her, not realizing why Kalene was stressed, thinking it had to do with the danger up ahead.

message 9: by Emma (new)

Emma "Oh, I'm not worried about my safety- I'm sure you and the rest of the guard have done an amazing job." Kalene said with a small smile. She pushed some of her purple hair out of her face, adjusting the silver chain of her small necklace as she did so. The necklace had been a gift for her birthday a few years ago, and it had a small, flower shaped pendant set with amethyst for the petals. She wore it almost every day. "I'm just nervous in general, you know?" She added a few moments later, not knowing how to explain it.

message 10: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Svea gave Kalene a brief nod, wishing that she could say more to comfort her. Although the princess had always been very nice to her, Svea was well aware of their class difference and while she cared a great deal about Kalene, she knew that the princess couldn't have seen her as more than the hired help. "I can certainly understand that, your highness," Svea said, as she turned her gaze back out to the window, narrowing her eyes slightly in an attempt to regain focus. "Is... is there anything that you need? I can see if I can find someone to get it for you," she offered somewhat awkwardly, meaning well, but never really sure what to say.

message 11: by Emma (new)

Emma "No, there's nothing, really." Kalene replied, somewhat dismally. "Do you know what time it is, though?" She asked, wanting to know how much more time they had. She looked around the room another time, not sure what she was trying to accomplish. To commit the room to memory? It had been her bedroom for the past twenty-two years of her life, there was nothing to remember that wasn't already ingrained in her brain. She wished that Svea and herself had more to talk about, something to distract herself with.

message 12: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "It's eleven o'clock, your highness," Svea replied promptly. "You still have plenty of time," she added, feeling as though that might offer the princess some kind of comfort. "Do you want to leave your room?" she asked, rising to her feet, ready to follow Kalene to wherever she wanted to go. Her hand brushed her firearm strapped to her waist briefly, comforted by the metal she felt in its place, her mind focused and her reflexes lightning fast if need be.

message 13: by Emma (new)

Emma "I might go downstairs and get something to eat-- are you hungry as well?" Kalene asked her bodyguard, only just realizing that she hadn't yet eaten any breakfast. She got to her feet as well, grateful for her more practical clothing that day, a pair of black leggings and a simple light blue top, as opposed to her usual dresses and skirts. While she didn't mind dressing fancily-- she had been doing so since she was a small child anyways, but such clothing wasn't always practical for moving around too much, and wasn't always comfortable.

message 14: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "I have, your highness," Svea replied, nodding. She had had her protein shake that had all of the nutrients she needed for the day. "But let us go since you are hungry," she added, walking over to open the door for Kalene.

message 15: by Emma (new)

Emma "Alright then. Thank you." Kalene added as she walked through the door and started down the stairs, not bothering to check over he shoulder if Svea was there or not-- Kalene knew that she would be. "You're sure you don't want anything?" She asked for a second time.

message 16: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "I'm fine, thank you, your highness," Svea replied with a small smile, always touched when the Princess showed her concern although she couldn't say that she was surprised when Kalene did--that was just the kind of person she was. She followed the girl into the dining room where the servants scurried to bring her what she wanted. Svea surveyed the room with her pale blue eyes--a room she had seen more times than she could count--to make sure nothing was out of place. Her stance behind Kalene was wide, strong and alert, her hands ready to spring to action if necessary. One could never be too safe.

message 17: by Emma (new)

Emma Kalene smiled, thanking the servants as they brought in the food. She always found it bizarre how Svea could seem so tense, ready to attack, and she herself be perfectly relaxed. She was simply eating a salad, as it could be prepared quickly, and it was healthy. That specific meal--one that was more often an appetizer, in truth, was one that had become almost a comfort food to the princess over the years. It was certainly a better comfort food than something like chocolates or other sweets, Kalene thought, because it was extremely unlikely that she would get fat off of a salad. She sat down in a position somewhere in between relaxed and stiff, not slouching or depending on the back of the chair, but not ready to stand at any moment, either.

message 18: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Svea kept one eye on the Princess as she ate and the other on their surroundings. She calculated in her head that if an attack where to come from any of the openings, she could have Kalene down and underneath the table in half a second before she took her first shot, using the table as a barrier. Silently, she admired the way that the Princess ate, thinking that she herself would never be able to carry herself with that much poise and dignity, never realizing that the way she moved during combat looked very much like she was dancing.

message 19: by Emma (new)

Emma Kalene ate slowly, as she almost always did, letting her mind wander as opposed to thinking directly about the food and room in front of her-- that was Svea's job, after all. She smiled as she thought about one of the first times her mother had tried to teach her proper table manners. She couldn't have been more than six, she didn't think, and her mother had tied her arms to the back of her chair with scarves as a method of making sure that she wouldn't lean forward too far, or reach over plates. Needless to say, it had been a long and unpleasant ordeal, but it had worked, as she almost thoughtlessly demonstrated at every meal.

message 20: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) When the Princess was done with her salad, the servants came and asked her if she wanted something else. Svea kept her stern pale blue gaze on each of the servers, always suspicious of anyone and everyone that passed Kalene's presence. Sometimes she even gave the King such harsh looks but she was careful to keep her gaze lowered in front of him; the man unnerved her for some reason that she couldn't quite explain.

message 21: by Emma (new)

Emma "Oh, no I'm fine," Kalene told the servants before thanking them again. She remained seated for a moment before standing up, smiling at Svea. She pondered, for a moment, the same question that had been bothering her all day: what to do next. It felt to herself like she was trapped in some sort of endless phase of waiting anxiously, one where hours seemed to stretch on longer than they really were and she was at a loss for everything, because there was nothing to do. She had to leave soon and everything necessary, or that even seemed worth doing, was already done.

message 22: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Noticing the Princess's anxiety made Svea want to do something to comfort her, but how could she understand what the girl was possibly going through? Leaving her home to wed an unknown man for a peace negotiation. It must have been awful, although she was sure Kalene didn't need to hear that. She waited for the Princess to rise and then asked, "Where would you like to go, your Royal Highness?"

message 23: by Emma (new)

Emma "I don't really know." Kalene admitted. "Maybe we could go for a walk around the gardens or something?" She was still trying to think of something to do, and still wasn't very successful. "You know you can call me Kalene, Svea." She mentioned, they would be going to an entirely different planet soon, after all, and Kalene thought that maybe it would be more comfortable if she was on first name basis with someone she knew already, to make the whole thing seem a bit less foreign.

message 24: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Svea's pale blue eyes widened slightly at the Princess's last statement. "Your Royal Highness, I can't," she insisted hastily in case someone nearby had heard and thought about reporting her insolence to the King. What right did she have to refer to the heir of the throne by her Christian name?

message 25: by Emma (new)

Emma "Yes, you can." the princess argued quietly, any trace of a smile gone from her face. "In fact, I am asking you too." She was fairly certain she knew why Svea looked alarmed, but she also knew that it was her own choice who had the right to call her by her first name and who didn't. She could deal with her father as well, if that was a problem, and they'd be leaving soon anyways. Not that she really wanted to think too much about that, but still.

message 26: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "Alright, K-Kalene," Svea murmured, although she couldn't help but sketch the Princess a small bow, feeling terribly awkward at using her first name, bridging that line of familiarity that she shouldn't have--or so she felt.

message 27: by Emma (new)

Emma Kalene smiled softly, "See? No problem. Shall we head to the gardens now?" She said, finally taking it upon herself to stand up and start walking, trying to be quiet about it, always hating the sharp sound that the heels of her shoes made on the floor.

message 28: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) "As you wish, your--Kalene," Svea corrected herself almost just in time. This was going to take some getting used to. She followed the Princess into the gorgeous gardens--the one part of their planet that resembled some kind of oasis, unlike the rest of the technological manmade buildings that dotted their world. Svea always felt at peace in this garden; even so, she remained on high alert just in case.

message 29: by Emma (new)

Emma Kalene wandered around the garden in silence for a few minutes, walking away from the flowers she was expected to like, roses and tulips. In truth she much preferred the likes of sunflowers and daisies, and the occasional lily. She knew that the gardens relaxed Svea, and she felt much the same way, an access point to nature in the midst of the grey and silver buildings, a point filled with colours.

message 30: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) As she followed the Princess around, Svea felt herself smiling slightly at the gorgeous sight of the natural, but cultured surroundings. She would be sad to see this place go, she realized. Suddenly it dawned on her that she too, would be leaving her home planet for another new and strange one, her only tie to the old life Kalene. Svea glanced up at the Princess then, who's back was turned to her, and she pitied the girl who she realized was giving up so much more.

message 31: by Emma (new)

Emma "So, is there anything you want to talk about?" Kalene asked, growing a bit uncomfortable with the silence. She looked around at all the flowers, realizing how she loved the flowers so much more than the buildings. She would spend her entire life here if she could, even as she realized that she couldn't. This would be it, the last time she would get to see the gardens, and it was time to say goodbye to her entire life. She had known this for a while, but the realization seemed to keep hitting her, like sparks that endlessly flew out of a fire. It scared her, leaving the life she'd known behind, in a way that she couldn't quite comprehend.

message 32: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Arching a brow at Kalene's question, Svea shook her head when she realized then that the Princess couldn't see her with her head turned. "No... Kalene," she said, remembering to use her job's first name. "Well," she added, pausing, "perhaps I was just thinking about how lovely this place is, and... I hope that there is something similar in your new home."

message 33: by Emma (new)

Emma Kalere smiled sadly, pausing for a moment before responding. "Yes, I hope so as well." She said quietly, as to keep her voice from cracking. She wasn't going to let herself cry, she decided, no matter how much she wanted to. Svea was leaving with her after all, she wasn't the only one leaving her home behind, and if Svea could be strong about it, so could she. It was useless to go around wishing for things like gardens, because wishing would make no impact.

message 34: by ๖ۣۜSαᴙαh (new)

๖ۣۜSαᴙαh ๖ۣۜMᴄĄłłiƨʈeʀ (inked_chinadoll) Although Kalene tried to hide the emotion in her voice, having been her bodyguard for so long, and knowing how to pick up on unspoken words and the like, Svea knew what she was trying to hide. Pausing in her surveillance and walking over to the young girl, Svea said to her in a voice that was more mature than her age, "It will be alright, Princess," forgetting to use her Christian name. "I will be right by your side," she promised, even though she couldn't imagine that being of any comfort. She just didn't know what else to say.
