In person meeting to discuss Divergent is March 6th. We meet at Richland Library Eastover at 6:00 PM. We hope that even if you can't meet with us in person, you will join us here :)

*Many of our discussion questions were drawn from the questions in back of the paperback copy*

1. What purpose does each of the five factions serve in society?

2. Do you agree or disagree that the faction system is a beneficial way to structure a society?

3. What faction do you think you would have been born into, given your family and its values? How would you feel about making a decision that would determine your life's course at the age of sixteen?

4. Why is Tris's government run only my members of Abnegation? Do you think this is a good idea?

5. Does a society like this seem possible in the future?

6. What does it mean to be factionless in Tris's society? Do the factionless have a role in this society?

7. What is the difference between being fearless and learning to control your fears? Do you believe anyone can be truly fearless?

8. What do you think about the enemies in this book, like Peter, Molly and Drew?

9.Why do you think Four chose to be dauntless?

10. Tris tells Caleb "Half of bravery is perspective." (Pg. 458) What does she mean by this?

We had a total of ten meet on a rainy, cold Thursday night to discuss Divergent. The book received 3.63 average out of five, which would put it in the four star range for us. Even those who did not enjoy reading this type of genre had a great time discussing the book in depth.
We hope even if you weren't able to join us in person and would like to weigh in on Divergent you will feel free to leave us your thoughts and rating (we rate with one to five stars).
