ABANDONED. Arachnid (spider) humanoid

I'm looking for a book that is about a human-like figure with the face of a spider? I read this years back so my memory is very vague about it. but all I know is that this creature goes around a town killing people.

Might it be "Love Is the Plan, the Plan is Death" by James Tiptree? It's a short story but it's about a spider-like creature with quasi-human intelligence.

I read it around 8 years ago in middle school. The book was written for teens but it was pretty graphic. I would say it would be in the science fiction genre. All I remember about the cover was a dark figure with sharp teeth. Any help would be great.
