Lea Ann (buntingla) I know technology has moved many people away from print books, but there is nothing I love more than spending the afternoon combing through a good bookstore. Since most of us reside within the state, I thought it might be fun to compile a list of our favorite bookstores.

New or used, franchises or independent - let's share!

Lea Ann (buntingla) I find most of my titles at garage sales, flea markets, library sales or through friends, but I'll kick this off with an Arkansas bookstore that I LOVE, the Dickson Street Bookshop in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

I live on the MO/AR border, so this is local for me although I don't get down there as much as I would like to these days.

This bookstore is a magical labyrinth of used books. If you can't find it here, you don't need it.

Lea Ann (buntingla) Always Buying Books is a good bookstore in Joplin. They have an eclectic offering of books!

Lea Ann (buntingla) I went to Changing Hands Book Shoppe in Joplin on Saturday. This is a nice little shop that sells new and gently used books. They also have a space sectioned off that sells a huge variety of role play games if that's your thing. They also have regularly scheduled tournaments there.

Anyway, they have bargain books as low as 25 cents! I was with my thirteen year old son, and I told him to keep me from buying any books, but I couldn't help myself when I saw this title: Society of the Dispossessed (Highwayman, #1) by Raymond Foxall . If you can pull up this cover it is worth a look. It has 1970's romance written all over it. I couldn't resist!

If you find yourself in Joplin, it's definitely worth a look.

Dan Schwent (akagunslinger) | 8 comments I go to Books Galore in Festus, MO about once a week. I'm also going to be part of an art show they're doing on March 7th.

Just checked out that link. If I ever get to Festus I'm definitely dropping by that place. Are you "Dangerous Dan"? If so, your photos are fabulous. Good luck with the art show!

Lea Ann (buntingla) Not a bookstore, but a great library inside the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center in St. Louis. The museum also sells a few books, mostly survivor testimonies. The museum is itself, of course, is also incredible.
