"I'm an interesting guy." Baylor said, winking again and taking another fry. "You're pretty lucky you got me at a time I'm not surrounded by people." He said jokingly. "I guess I am kind of sort of a Mr. Popular around here." He said, shrugging. He actually never thought of himself very likeable, just annoying and weird. But he did have a lot of friends... He was constantly busy with friends and school and parties so maybe he was more likeable then he thought he was.

She rolled her eyes, shaking her head at his joke. He was cute, she had to admit. Despite finding a cocky attitude like his annoying in other people, she found it absolutely entertaining in him. "Mr. Popular, hmm?" Juliet mused, finding many similarities with him and Travis. "I think you and Travis would get along just fine. Both of you have overly enlarged egos." She shook her drink in a circle and pulled the straw to her lips again, sucking it in.
"I've never met the guy. But if he's taking my sister to homecoming then I do hope we get along." Baylor said, smiling. Baylor was cocky but her thought about Bridget dating some cocky guy on the football team and it didn't sit well with him. Thankfully, as much as he knew, they were not dating... Yet. But, homecoming could change a lot of things for both of them. "Hey, I don't see anything wrong with being confident in yourself. If you go around letting every little thing that others say about you get you down... What fun is that? Just prove them wrong." He said leaning back and folding his hands behind his head.
She agreed, hoping the two would get along. She didn't know if he knew that her two friends were dating each other. She knew of stories where older brothers grew inredibly defensive of the little sisters whe it came to interested boys. She, alas, never had such an experience. Her twenty six year old brother never had to deal with guys even looking at his little sister because of her intensity. "I love to prove people wrong. Actually, I love being right more." She joked, resting her back against the seat of the booth. It was comfortable for her to sit and get along with him, as if she knew him for longer than just one day.
"Mmm. Me too." Baylor said. He was one to always be right... Even if he was wrong, he was right. Never wrong and to prove people wrong was one of the best thing's in the world. "In fact, I think I'd make a wonderful lawyer!" Baylor said thinking out load and grinning. But the thought of being a lawyer did not interest him. It sounded really super boring but he'd probably be the kind of lawyer that never lost a case! He would be just that good. Bu only if it ever grew interesting to him which he had a feeling it never would.
"A lawyer, hmmm?" She perched her eyebrows high atop of her forehead. It was an interesting idea, but she saw no future with law. Unless of course she was being fined for something. "Somehow, I don't think you would be satsified with that." Juliet shrugged her shoulders with a shake of her head. "From what I know about you, you're the type of guy who likes excitement." A smile rose to her lips as she rambled off. She herself wouldn't sit well with a calm life with a desk job, she wanted something exciting and dangerous.
Baylor nodded and laughed. "That's why I'm a basketball player!" He said, leaning back towards the table and taking another fry. Being a basketball player or any kind of sports player was always exciting. He wouldn't want to do anything else, he couldn't see himself doing anything else. "Excitement is always good. I like to be at the edge of my seat all the time and keep others on the edge of their seat. I don't see how others live boring lives being a lawyer." He said, rolling his eye's and shaking his head.
She nearly bounced out of her seat, relieved that there was at least one person who understood what she thought. It was a struggle she had to go through, her parents wanting her to be a doctor or a secretary for some big company. "Finally! Someone who understandsmy dillema." Juliet exaggerated with a pout of her lips. Her cheeseburger sat in front of her untouched still. Some girls would be wary of tue calories they were consuming, but she just dug in.
Baylor grinned again. Juliet seemed like a fun and exiting girl... Maybe it just took some time to get to know her. "There's a lot of boring people in the world." Baylor stated, looking out the window. It was awful how boring it was in the world and how boring everyone else was. "Everyone's so focused on being what everyone else is or want's them to be that their forgetting who they want to be...." He muttered a bit absent minded.
"I agree." She mused, picking at the side of her burger. It's taste wasn't as appealing to her as it used to be, having eaten it far too many times before in her life. She herself didn't know what she wanted in the future as a career. "My parents want me to be a doctor or work in business." Juliet wrinkled her nose in distaste. She couldn't stand a lofe like that.
"If you don't want to do it than don't do it." He said, shrugging. He, luckily, had parents that encouraged him to do and be whatever he wanted. They supported him with wanting to do sports and supported Bridget with her music career that she wanted. Thy let them move to LA just to for fill there dreams. He didn't have interesting back stories or a complicated home life. The only thing that might be interesting or complicated was his sisters death that no one but his family really knew about.
She held a fry between her fingers, eyeing the oily snack. What could she do in the future? She did like the idea of teaching an English class and then coaching a team after school but her social skills needed immense help. She didn't think she would take a sport as a career and definitely ruled out playing violin again. "I don't know what I'm going to do." Juliet murmured, conflicted feelings in her chest.
"I think that's actually normal." Baylor said. He knew lots of people that didn't know what they wanted to do but now their somewhere in the world being successful in some business that they love. "What ever you decide to do just remember that you're gonna have to stick with it so don't end up doing anything you don't like." He said. "Do you have a job now? Like... At a fast food or Starbucks or something?" He asked. Bridget liked to fill her schedule up so she worked at the tutoring center after school and at Sub Zero or something like that. She seemed to hate sitting around the house sometimes.
She shrugged her shoulders absently, her fingers picking at her burger. It fazed her that she had no idea what she wanted to do in her life, what type of future she wanted. She only hoped that whatever the outcomes might be, that she would be happy with what she had to do. "I used to work at a bakery in New Orleans, but I'm searching for a new one here." Juliet mused, picking up her burger again. She loved working at the bakery, making the delicious desserts and playing with the dough in the kitchens. Even though she wasn't exactly a "people" person, she still loved to hear the excited squeals from children as they left the bakery with their chosen desserts.
"It's hard to juggle school and a job at the same time." Baylor said. "So don't worry about it too much..." He told her. He had tried to work too job's when he first came here to pay for his apartment and it was hard to do all the with school in the way as well. When Bridget came to live with him it got a little easier when they split the bill and Baylor actually started sleeping again and stopped working too job's but only one. When he got out of collage he hoped it would be easier too with more time on his hands and not so much homework.
She nodded her head, grateful for the advice. She didn't really want to start working here, meaning she would have to accept that Los Angeles was going to be her new home permanently. Her parents wouldn't dare pick the family up again and move them across the country if she had anything to do with it. "School comes easy to me but I'll keep that in mind." Juliet took a sip of her shake, gingerly shaking it once again. "So, what do you do for fun around here? Besides basketball, of course."
Baylor grinned, picking at the fries on the table and finishing his burger. "Mmmm, parties and hanging out with friends." He said. "Or I sit at home with my sister... Because she never leaves the house." He shrugged and smiled. "But if I'm not home or at some basketball court I'm at the beach or at some party." He said. That was true, Baylor was all over the place. But he loved to have his time to just stay at home or lay around on the beach. When you live in California though... Who doesn't want to spend some time on the beach?
Her eyes lit up at the mention of the beach. Her old home had a beach nearby that she would have loved to go to but her parent's decision overrided her own. Nothing she could say or do would change their minds and let her out of the house. But they didn't know what she would do in the middle of the night, sneaking out the window of her room to go to the beach at night. Of course there were people she disliked there but it was easy to ignore them on such beautiful nights. "I love the beach." Juliet smiled softly, thinking over the topic as she finished her burger.
"The beaches here are so much more prettier than Georgia's beaches." Baylor commented. The sand wasn't as clean in Georgia and the water definitely not as blue. He enjoyed to sit at the beach here way more than he did in Georgia. And... He lived closer here so he got to go a lot more. Bridget nearly lives in her swim suit, she goes often to. Sometimes just to read a book. Baylor kept promising himself he'd learn how to surf but he never had the time to do it. He never had time to teach himself.
She raised her eyebrows in interest. "Hmm...I went to Georgia once. On a class field trip to Atlanta." The trip hadn't been too exciting but she did enjoy going to the Coke Factory. It wasn't a part of their schedule but she wanted to go. So, she slipped out of her group at the Georgia Aquarium and walked across the street to the Coke Factory. "But I have to say the beaches here are incredible. And all the surfing here is amazing!" Juliet bragged, tapping her ringed fingers on the table in remembrance.
"I lived in Georgia my whole life until a few years ago." Baylor said... Even though it was more than a few years. He went to visit his family every Spring Brake with Bridget and sometimes, if he could make it, on the Holiday's. "The beaches here beat anything I think." Baylor said, grinning. "Do you know how to surf?" He asked her, raising an eyebrow. He liked to teach himself thing's so he doesn't like taking lessons. He taught himself how to play Basketball... Maybe that's why he's the only basketball boy in his family.
She leaned forward in her seat, her eyes widening in eagerness. "I've actually surfed before, but I have paddled out into the water." She shrugged her shoulders. It would be the time of her life if she could learn how to surf. It was a secret dream that she wanted to accomplish one day in her life, to learn how to surf. Maybe he had similar dreams. "Why, do you?" Juliet questioned, picking the last fry from the tray and teasingly sticking it between her teeth.
"Oh... I was just wondering." He said, shrugging. "I would love to learn how to surf." Baylor said. "But no... I don't surf. There's lot of classes during the summer... But I don't like taking classes. I think that's weird." He muttered. He would feel stupid if he had to take classes. He hated classes in school. He watched her take the fry, thinking he couldn't take another thing to eat. He crumbled the piece of paper his burger was wrapped in and tossed it into the trash from his seat before taking her's and doing the same thing.
She leaned back in her seat, teasingly chewing on the fry. Her stomach was full from the burger and the fries but her shake was still half full. She decided to keep it around in case she grew thirsty throughout the day again. "Yes, taking classes is weird." Juliet mused as he stood to throw away their trash. She smiled to herself as he took her wrapper walking back to the trash can. Thinking back to the time on her clock, she could see herself falling love with someone like Baylor. But of course, she didn't believe in her clock, or so she says.
"Bridget thinks I'm weird because I refuse to take classes on anything." Baylor said, shaking his head. "I don't know how she tutors people after school... I could never pay attention." He said. His parent's use to make him go to summer school over the summer just to make sure he understood what he was doing in school, he found way's to not go. He'd go but then not show up to class, go to the beach or find some friends to hang out with. The only reason he went to collage is so he could do something with his Basketball career later.
She pursed her lips, announcing a sound of denial. "I can't stand school. It's easy but I absolutely hate going." Juliet agreed, her nose wrinkling at the mention of tutoring. When she did turn up to class, she would always drift off to sleep because of the incredibly boring lectures or the stupid projects they were assigned in class. She couldn't stand the group activities they had to do. She believed she had the better ideas but since she was the pariah, what would she know?
"But for some reason it's required." Baylor said, shrugging and laughing slightly. "Thanks to the genius who thought it was a good idea to press lot's of teenagers int he same building for seven hours a day five day's of the week." He rolled his eye's turning to sit back at their booth and drinking from the foam cup that came with his meal. He figured sitting here for a couple more moment's with Juliet would be fine. He liked talking to her. It was strange how they went from one subject so quickly. Baylor had always been someone to make friends quickly and easily.
Juliet cocked her head, her mind working quickly. "Well, the ancient Romans used to have classes, teaching each other Greeks so they looked superior." She recalled from the Latin classes she took in New Orleans. "And I'm pretty sure cavemen tried teaching each other incoherent sounds." She shrugged her shoulders. "So, I guess we blame the cavemen." She concluded, a smirk present on her lips. It was how she solved problems she ran into in life, she inferred from random information she had gathered and came to a conclusion.
Baylor smiled as she talked. Juliet might be the type not to like school or the girl the slept in class but she sure did pay attention and remember a lot. Baylor liked that. He loved smart girls. It was really attractive. Who wanted to fall in love with an empty headed cheerleader like the one's at his collage that flirted with everyone? Of course, all his friends and team mates would disagree. He didn't care. He liked it. "Wow." He said. "So... You're pretty smart. huh? You know how to play Basketball, you're not afraid to go out in your gym clothes... I don't know if I could like you anymore Juliet. But I'm sure you will prove me wrong soon." He said, smirking.
Her eyes rolled as she contemplated over cavemen. All they did was kill animals and pound wooden bats and jump around. So, in modern day, she could compare cavemen to redneck baseball players. Though she liked basketball and soccer, she absolutely loathed baseball. The sport was one that made no sense to her which irritated her more. Her eyebrows rose high on her forehead as he complimented her, taking pleasure in it. "I thought you liked being right?" She smirked. "How about this? In order for both of us to be right, I'll stop being so amazing and you can admit that you are completely in love with me." She teased.
"I do love to be right... But I think you're completely worth being wrong for... But just once. Because if it were anyone else... I'd be right all the time." He told her. Baylor rolled his eye's as well but smirked. "Umm... Okay. Fine. Deal?" He raised an eyebrow. "But you have to admit that you have no problem with me being in love with you and that you... Also are completely in love with me." He added. He folded his hand's behind his head, leaning back in his seat again. His sister was going to hate him for flirting with one of her friends but it's not like she'd ever found out. Unless Juliet and him became more than this but... That was just him getting to far ahead of himself, right?
A grin rose to her lips at his logic, a chuckle escaping her mouth. "I'm special." She raised one shoulder, twisting her ring around her finger. She found herself surprised by the turn of events but also pleasantly happy that it had happened. He was absolutely adorable with his antics and their bickering. She could easily admit that one day she might fall in love with him. "I have no problem with it." She piped up before he had finished his sentence. Her eyebrows raised with amusement, unaware of how close to the truth it might be. "Fine. I'm desperately in love with you, Romeo." She smirked.
Baylor grinned in victory. He had won again, he had the last word. Just like he liked it to be. "Romeo?" He asked an amused eyebrow raised. "Okay... But you do realize Romeo and Juliet was the worst romance story in the history of the word right? I don't know about you but I don't plan on killing my self for a girl I only knew a few day's." He said shaking his head. "No offense." He added. He didn't understand why everyone was so in love with the story... It was pointless to him but whatever. He could see himself falling for Juliet in less then a week though... But their story wouldn't be like Romeo and Juliet. It would be better.
She pouted her lips, dragging her knees together under the table. "You just have to ruin my fun, don't you? I finally had a nickname for you!" Juliet shook her head with mock annoyance. She loved their constant bicker which reminded her of a novel she had read where two enemies had fallen in love even with their arguing. "Your logic is screwed, though. That's because the Juliet in the play was a hopeless tramp with no brains. I however do have a brain." She argued. William Shakespeare was a brilliant man but he must have been half asleep when he wrote that play.
Baylor chuckled. "Alright. Alright. Fine. Call me Romeo. I don't have a nickname like that so you're safe." He grinned. "It's not just the play that the two fall in love with each other for a few day's... I read the book in High school babe. I don't have that bad of a memory." He said. "In fact, I'm pretty sure I own the book... For some odd reason." He muttered, it was probably because of Bridget. She liked to own every book she read, no matter what. Even if she completely hated it.
She grinned victoriously, swinging her legs under the table. She was excited that she finally figured out a nickname for him even with such a meaning that made her blush. "Please, I think everyone's been forced to read it in like ninth grade or something." She squinted her eyes as she tried to recall when she had read it. A chuckle escaped her lips at his confused expression. Her swinging legs moved a bit farther out, hitting his legs.
"Yup. Somewhere around then." Baylor said, recalling his English class that he stopped paying attention to when they started reading that god awful book. Plus, his English teacher had an awful Monotone reading voice that never changed. When her foot hit his leg Baylor looked up at her in mock shock. "Are you punishing me now for not liking the book? Am I not allowed to have my own opinion around you anymore?" He teased, kicking her back lightly with his foot. Being able to joke around like this with her was fun. He didn't get to do it with others so it was fun. Especially with Juliet.
He had a special allure that made her attracted to him. She didn't have many friends but this one held a different space in her heart then Travis or Bridget did. Although she was only friends with him, she found herself perhaps longing for me later on. "Hmmm..." She pretended to think on it as if deciding whether or not he deserved a punishment. "Opinions are overrated." She concluded, swinging her leg out again at his. He was her entertainment, someone for her to actually joke around with and have them know what she actually meant. Her other friends were sweet, but this friendship felt special.
Baylor rolled his eye's, so now they'd play footsie under the booth. Despite how childish it was, Baylor nudged her back softly once again. "My opinion mean's everything." He protested. "If you're looking for someone to argue with and play footsie with all night... I'm free tonight and every night after." He said. Even if he had plan's he had a feeling he would make his way around them just so he could see Juliet again. She was fun to be around, unlike the others. Unlike any of his other friends. Unlike any other girl he had ever ran into.
She raised her eyebrows in amusement, a bright look occupying her eyes. She laughed as his foot made contact with her leg again, catching his foot underneath the table. She trapped his foot with both of her feet hooked around his. "Now, footsie is overrated. What if I just like to kick you?" She defended her actions lazily, leaning her elbows on the table. "Are you suggesting we do something else tonight?" She teased him, undeniably joyful that he would say something like it. No one had ever made her feel so treasured and been able to keep up with her despite her sharp words.
Baylor grinned, leaning closer to the table and to her, despite his foot being caught between her's. He rested his elbow's on the wood of the table and smirked. "Well, if I was..." He said teasingly. "What would you think I'd be suggesting?" He asked her. Again, he found himself thinking about Bridget. What would she think about him flirting and teasing and eating lunch with Juliet? If she didn't like it was he willing to stop seeing Juliet? Probably not. Bridget would never even suggest it... He knew his sister. But... If she did, he would sneak about and their story would turn more like Romeo and Juliet. Forbidding love.
She laughed, swinging their feet under the table together. "Hmmm...you're not one to be very naughty so I think you would be suggesting that you read aloud Romeo and Juliet to me." She joked, referring to their earlier conversation. There was something changing between them, their flirting taking another level. She found herself incapable of controlling herself, anticipating his next move. She wasn't worried of the consequences if she ever got into a relationship with Baylor, but discovered she was rather even more excited to have a secret relationship.
Baylor raised his eyebrow. "You don't think I'm one to be very naughty?" He repeated a smirk tugging at his lip's again. "Well... Juliet." He said, leaning closer to her just by a bit. "You know by now that I am one the likes to prove people wrong." He muttered softly, biting his bottom lip allowing his gaze to alter from her face to her lip's just for a brief moment. "But..." He leaned back, just to get her reaction. "If you'd rather hear me read to you. I'm up for that too. Like I said... I own the book." He said, smirking at her.
She leaned forward, awaiting his answer. At his response, she found themselves much closer. She figured she knew what was coming next but when he moved away, a look of disappointment passed over her face. She wasn't sure before, but now she knew she longed for his lips to be pressed against hers. "Sure, you do." Juliet leaned back from the table, leaning against the back of the booth. "You might not be naughty, but I know hat I can be very naughty." She flashed him a smirk, ready to play the same game as him.
Baylor smiled brightly at her, as she leaned back again. "Oh yeah?" He asked, raising his eyebrow again. "I'm not sure I believe you on that one darling. Might have to prove it to me. You do love to prove people wrong don't you?" He asked her. It was amusing and fun but he knew even though it seemed he was joking he wanted it... Possibly just as bad as she did. Even if she wasn't speaking the truth or loud either. Baylor was very good at reading people. Their eyes and their face, he learned, spoke more about their emotions then their mouthes ever could.
She licked her dry lips, her face growing hot. She blamed it on the heat in the restaurant but it was a lame excuse with the cooler weather they were having in Los Angeles. She drifted her feet up his leg before crossing them on top of his knee. She raised her eyebrows, sporting an innocent expression on her face. "Hmm...I believe I do." Juliet mused, her reddened cheeks, giving her away. "Perhaps, we both will just have to prove each other wrong." She suggested, trying to get rid of the blush on her cheeks. She could easily say she was interested in him, but admitting it out loud would take a bit more effort.
Baylor smiled, crossing his arms over his chest. "So you are interested!" Baylor said smiling at her. "We're compromising an awful lot tonight." He admitted. Of course he didn't mind that. The thought of actually getting to know Juliet better... Get to know more of just her personality... Made Baylor excited. Feeling her legs on his and wanting more than just that... She drove him crazy, but he refused to let that show. He refused to let himself be weak around her, he couldn't let her have the satisfaction of winning. "Tell me what you want me to do and I'll prove it." He said.
Agreeing, she ran a hand through her hair, flustered by all that had occurred. She had never really flirted with a guy before, but she decided she was doing a decent job. He seemed to be interested at least. He wasn't revealing anything on his face though, so she couldn't tell how he really felt. "Hmmm...I believe we are in public still, Baylor." She teased, pressing the straw of her shake to her drink as she finished it up. He was stirring up so many emotions in her chest and she couldn't keep track of all the things he was doing to her. Her heart beat faster as they interacted more, their flirting growing.
Baylor smirked. "We can leave if you'd like... But if you're truly just so eager for the events to take place soon... There's always a bathroom." He said leaning closer again and letting his hands move to where her legs were in contact with his, moving them as far up as he could manage when she was as far as she was under the table . "Totally up to you." He said, winking at her. His heart pounded in his chest, now realizing how truly eager he was for the events to take place. They had just met and things were moving fast. He didn't mind... As long as she didn't mind.
A small sound escaped her mouth, wrapped around the straw of her shake. His response surprised her immensely but she found herself not peeling away from him, but wishing for more. Things were escalating quickly but she didn't care. "Hmm...events?" She tilted her head to side, an innocent expression on her face. "I don't believe I know what you are talking about, Romeo." She pouted her lips, the empty shake cup dangling loosely in her hand. Her stomach flipped as she longed for more to occur. A kiss, anything besides this heart clenching chatter. She wanted more.
