Becky Everhart When we were reading this in college, my prof tried to tell us (with a straight face, no less!) that all of the sexual imagery was all in our heads and that we all had filthy minds. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Andrea nope..
my high school teachers just laugh bc sometimes people in my class dont get the sexual imagery

Feliks Its friggin intense, this poem. Its not for nothing that it was a landmark work of **its century**.

Not suited for 99.9% of modern readers, sadly. You're either a person who can follow the power of the English language and let it draw you across distant timeperiods and walks of life..or you're a person who watches too much TV and just doesn't get it anymore.

One or the other.

Goddess Of Blah I was 17 when we read this for English and I didn't notice the sexual imagery - I was so innocent ;-)
