Susan (nrlymrtl) | 26 comments Folks, this is big! Anya from On Starships & Dragonwings) and I hatched this plan to do a read along of Brandon Sanderson‘s The Way of Kings, Book 1 in The Stormlight Archive series. http://dabofdarkness.com/2013/12/20/t...

As long as the moderators allow it, I will plan to post discussion questions here weekly. So feel free to join us here or the blogosphere!

With that, the schedule:

Chapter 20 – Chapter 27 (96 pages), Jan. 22
Chapter 28 – Chapter 32 (93 pages), Jan. 29
Chapter 33 – Chapter 42 (102 pages), Feb. 5
Chapter 43 – Chapter 50 (90 pages), Feb. 12
Chapter 51 – Chapter 57 (109 pages), Feb. 19
Chapter 58 – Chapter 65 (91 pages), Feb. 26
Chapter 66 – END (98 pages), March 5

Excellent! Will be looking forward to you joining us!

Mike (pikeamus) | 21 comments Tempting. I've been planning on reading this book for a while but was waiting for the next in the series to be available, which I understand should be not long now.

Never done an online reading group thing before. Are those schedule dates start or finish times for the listed sections?

Hi Mike, the read along finishes the same week Book 2 comes out. So it is a great lead in.

Those dates are finish dates for each section, but we're real easy. I will post the discussion questions each week here and folks are welcome to join in whenever they like. So if you're a week behind, no problem. Join when you can.

Awesome!

Chris (chrisnunz) | 6 comments I think this is a great idea. I've never done a read along before, and was planning on saving WoK for last as I just started getting into all of Sanderson's books, but this is a great opportunity to be able to discuss the book with others and that is too good to pass up!

I think you'll enjoy the read along. It's great to discuss a book in detail, and several of the bloggers doing this read along have not read the book before, so plenty of newbies.

Vincent Bakker | 2 comments This is great! WOK was my first Sanderson book, and many have come after. This guy is just a genius, and a writing machine! Can't believe all the books he is planning for next year. But anyway, I already started a reread, but will join you guys whenever I can!

Excellent! Looking forward to it!

Mike (pikeamus) | 21 comments Started last night. It immediately strikes me that this will be a good book for this sort of online activity. From the outset it gives the impression of being a really big story, with lots of details to keep straight.

Yeah, it is. I am going to be doing the audioversion, so I need to dig out my audiobook. My man has listened/read this book like 4 times and he is looking forward to the read along, even though he won't be posting.

Chris (chrisnunz) | 6 comments So I started reading this Friday night and I was planning on reading along with the schedule, but the book is just too good that I barely put it down all weekend and am up to Chapter 28 today, oops, haha.

I also foresee that it'll be even more difficult to put the book down as I keep reading, but I still am looking forward to the discussions each week!

Haha! Yes, I am hearing this from several people. I too dipped into Chapter 7, a little beyond Week 1's reading section. Still looking forward to the weekly discussions though to see what everyone makes of the Spren, the rock buds, the shardplate, etc.

Great minds think alike!

Great! Feel free to jump into the read along discussions, if you like. Also, we are planning a read along of Book 2. I plan to post details once we have a schedule.
