While reading And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie shows how a group of people have to survive on a island. One by one they start to die until there are none remaining. By examining fear in And Then There Were None, shows that fear comes from within. Which ultimately demonstrates that people need to relax their minds when they are scared of something. I recommend this book because it shows how to make decisions while being feared. This shows up on page 96. "There's only eight, sir! Only eight! It doesn't make sense, does it? Only eight..." In this quote Rogers is expressing himself that he is scared of what can happen not only to the other people but himself. This shows that he is feared but something that is near them. As a result to this, he chooses not to make very good choices which can and maybe will result in death. He shows an example of being feared and he didn't relax his mind to make smarter decisions which relates back to the motif of fear and the theme of making bad decisions when you are feared. Another place this shows up on is on page 74," Sleep would not come to him." This line shows that he is choosing not to sleep. He chooses not to sleep because he can't get over the fact the he will die but he doesn't know when he will. Having this notion of fear causes him not to sleep and since he is feared already, not sleeping will only increase the chance of not making good decisions even more. Since he is scared though, choosing not to sleep is a bad decision. As shown choosing not to sleep is a bad decision and not all bad decisions have to be dangerous. To sum it up, if someone or something is scared of something, they tend to make bad decisions that can lead to worse things that are already happening.
