Nyssa | 2023 comments Ah yes, "Guards" is another one that he likes. Not sure about "Witches".

I'm sure I'll get back to the series some day... :)

Lee | 939 comments The first time I read Pratchett I started with the Death books because I had read Good Omens and loooved Death. Then I read the Rincewind books straight thru. Love them. And I've read all of the Tiffany Aching books - one of my favorite young adult series from any author. I know I've read a few of the Witches and Guards books but I don't remember which ones.

I think I'm going publishing order this time.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments We will probably need a Discworld thread, especially if some of y'all will be reading them with me this year. And it seems that several are interested.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Never got into Rincewind. I love the Witches, and Death and the Guards. Moist is growing on me, but I haven't read the latest. Oh, and I like the Tiffany books, too.

In another group people were saying how these last few don't feel the same and aren't as good. As if Pratchett isn't at the helm anymore. I know he's said he's still writing them, and they say, despite his Alzheimer's, he's doing really well... but I agree the last few haven't been some of my faves, overall.

I need the read Making Steam, though.

The first one is The Color of Magic. Its one of my favorites but most fans consider it one of his weakest. You could also start with Equal Rites the first Witches book, Reaper Man the first Death book, or Guards! Guards! the first Guards book (just in case the title wasn't obvious, Lol).

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I assume you've seen the reading guide map, if you want to read in series? http://www.lspace.org/books/reading-o...

Unfortunately it's not quite up to date, but it'd get you started if you wanted to read that way.

Sinistmer | 212 comments I am trying to make myself read more nonfiction. Fiction goes a lot more quickly, so I tend to default to that; I also tend to be more interested in fiction books. However, I have created a separate shelf of nonfiction books here on Goodreads, so I can't "forget" the nonfiction I mean to read.

I am also trying to make myself update my book blog more. I was not as good at updating the blog as I should have been this year; it is a pity since I read some rather good books this past year (Mistborn trilogy being one of them).
