message 1: by John (new) - added it

John Hancock (johngregoryhancock) | 8 comments For some reason, my cover is not showing from when I added this book. I've tried to look everywhere, for several days, to find a way to fix it myself, but can't locate the correct link to do so. I've never had a problem in the past by simply providing the ASIN so not sure what's up.

Robin (ukamerican) | 106 comments I've added the cover - I'm not sure what you meant by simply providing the ASIN, covers have never been added in that way as far as I know. You have to upload the cover image from your hard drive.

I also changed the format from ebook to Kindle Edition since ASINs are only for Amazon books. The "ebook" format should only be used with books that have an ISBN rather than an ASIN.

John Hancock (johngregoryhancock) | 8 comments thanks robin, but can you tell me if you could, where is the button or mechanism for uploading the cover? Is it during the adding process only? Because I could not locate it anywhere in my profile, or the book's info.
If it's during the adding the book process, I messed up and didn't see it. thanks in advance, and thanks for adding it.

Top right-hand corner. You should be able to add a cover to a book that doesn't have one.

top right hand corner of what? I'm not trying to obtuse here, the top right hand corner of my profile page only offers to "edit profile, friends, help, switch to mobile, sign out" Likewise my author dashboard.

ok, ok, I just figured out what you meant, although if you'd said "upper right corner of the book image", that would have been a little clearer. I was searching all over every link in every page of dashboard, profile, etc.

thanks everyone.

The top right hand corner of ... the page you were on during the book adding process that you mentioned in your question...

John Hancock (johngregoryhancock) | 8 comments mmmm… ok, but without having your link, how does one get to that? I don't have an "edit book" link once I'd put the book up.

but that's ok, now I know where to find it when uploading. Thank you!

It should be in the same location when adding a book/edition.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/new - upper right hand corner

That said, I don't know if authors get some other type of add/upload page for their own books - in which case, we couldn't really tell you where to look since we're not authors.
