Magdelanye | 2868 comments Are we urgently reading the last books on our year list,
or have we abandoned any list or sense of reading order that is contingent on the yearly cycle+

Maybe we read more in the easy days of summer, outdoors, or now, when it gets rough outside and we can fill the long nights within the worlds our books take us to.

David | 17 comments And are we setting those public "reading challenges" in 2014? I won't. I don't much like what it did to my reading and book buying in 2013. I have to meet targets at work and I don't need them in my real life, too.

Magdelanye | 2868 comments I agree.
I never do it,even when I was tempted by a round the world challenge.

Magdelanye | 2868 comments but I must add, I love my Mieville group and found it illuminating and helpful

Ice Bear (neilar) | 841 comments I set my challenge for the year (which I did not intend to) and then read 4 1,000 plus page books in a row .... idiot that I am ........... Quality over quantity, and tbr just stays north of 100 books.

Winter is coming !!

Magdelanye | 2868 comments Picture this: unwilling to leave my reading choices entirely to chance(quality over quantity yes) I am lugging a box of books with me around Spain.I left a couple in Barcelona, after reading of course, the Llosa and the Calvino were hard to say goodbye to as I love them so much.

Ice Bear (neilar) | 841 comments In between activities of the grandsons, a few pages get turned. Still awaiting first snows of the season.

Ellen (elliearcher) | 1373 comments I'm going to get to be a step-grandma this Christmas & am very excited about it!

Ellen (elliearcher) | 1373 comments Also, I'm reading The Book Thief which I'm somewhat disappointed in so far and Novels in Three Lines by Félix Fénéon which is very strange, somewhat depressing, and yet oddly enjoyable.

gosh,what a wonderful thing!
you dont have to elaborate, but I would be interested in the logistics of this.

When I was working at the bookstore, this was one our most requested books. It usually sold within hours of shelving it. I actually wanted to bring it,but too big. I went for pocket size but thick, with a few slim volumes of theory.

Just looked up the Feneon and it looks pretty bizarre

Ice Bear (neilar) | 841 comments Seasons Greetings, a few presents still to wrap and one suspects a great deal of excitement from the grandsons.
