Maddie (airrush23) | 4 comments The book "The Princess Bride" is not only a great book, but also the basis for a very, very popular movie. Since most everyone has seen this movie, you probably know the story. "The Princess Bride" is the story of the true love between the beautiful maiden Buttercup and the farm boy-turned-pirate Westley. It describes the perils they face along with the stories of the prince Humperdinck, whom Buttercup must marry, the master swordsman Inigo, who is seeking revenge for the death of his father, and the giant Fezzik, who is Inigo's best friend. The book isn't an exact copy of the movie, which keeps it interesting while also familiar. A lot of backstory is given for the characters in the novel that we don't see in the movie. Inigo gets his full story told, as does Fezzik. There are a lot of high tension moments, so you'll be on the edge of your seat even if you've seen the movie. There is also a good amount of humor-the story will often stop to point out how anywhere from three to a hundred pages were cut out because they were boring or unnecessary. The characters are all great and really developed, and they act like real people would, not like characters. The book is a really fun and entertaining read, and I recommend it to everyone. Yes, everyone. "The Princess Bride" is a really, really great read and you should read it if you ever get the chance.
