James Everington | 55 comments I've read quite a few of his stories and he was really very good.

From the tributes on blogs and Facebook it sounds like he was a real inspiration & mentor to a younger generation of writers like Simon Bestwick and Gary McMahon too.

This really has been a shit year for writers dying.

Alan (takingsky) I've joined the literary horror group not because I read or write horror, but because Joel was in the same writers' group as me, and he was, as James suggested, an inspiration to the writers there. It is a 'mainstream' group, but had 'weird fiction' (as Joel liked to call it) and crime writers (like Mick Scully) in it. Tributes have been posted on our website by me and others. he will be sorely missed. He should be more well known, and I think he probably will be, now.
