I would like to nominate Long Walk to Freedom, The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela

And Black Boy by Richard Wright

I have always wanted to read both books with a group. Richard Wrights Native son
is a favorite of mine. And Mandela well I am always filled with love for his voice. His spirit even from far away is soothing.

The January focus is Southern Africa and USA, please look at either diaspora (Europe) or West Africa (February 2014). Each month we travel to different regions in Africa and around the world

Yeremiyah Ben Yisrael (drben) | 10 comments Hello group there is some mistake in the listing of my book here is the ISBN that is supposed to be listed for nomination 149214651X "A Journey Within: Becoming Better Mind Body And Spirit" the one listed is the companion journal

message 21: by Chris (new)

Chris | 1 comments I would like to nominate "Padre!: A place whose rules rearrange your own" by Raven Moore. She is a new author who gets on my nerves sometimes yet ultimately is committed to deeper truths that press on me to explore my own questions further. My second nomination goes to "Kindred" by Octavia Butler. My father loaned it to me and thanks to this poll I have an opportunity to read it and share my experience with others.

Donald | 126 comments I am happy to see that we have a few new members today. Welcome!

** Thank you too for voting. We also would ask all members who have just joined and are voting today, to also participate in the current (December) book discussions for The Sabi and Buck.

***I notice too that many are only voting for the USA category. There are two polls out today, so please vote in both (USA & Southern Africa)

***Introductions would be most welcome too (Under the introduction folder) so that we can get to know members

Welcome and we look forward to your participation

Authors, we also look forward to your participation in the book discussions for December 2013

Thanks for your understanding
