Kim (kadykayf) Welcome to YA Book Club's twelfth Reading Challenge!

Rules

Duration: December 1, 2013 – February 28, 2014

We are a YA Book Club, so all books should be young adult (unless otherwise noted).

You have 3 months to read 10 YA books that satisfy following requirements:

1) Read a book that is a new release published in December of 2013, January or February of 2014. Goodreads offers lists of the most popular new releases by month; they might help you to make your choices - December, January and February. (If you have difficulties obtaining these new books, you can read a release from the same months in 2012/2013).

2) Read a book that takes place during winter. Some ideas can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/5...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

3) December is Universal Human Rights Month. Read a book that tackles any human rights issue. Some ideas can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...

4) December 7th is Teacher Appreciation Day. Read a book that takes place in a school. Ideas here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

5) January is International Creativity Month. Read a book with a creative main character.

6) January 6th is Fun at Work Day. Read a book where the main character has a job that seems like it might be fun.

7) Celebrate National Black History Month (U.S.) and read a book by an African American author. Some ideas can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

8) In celebration of Valentine's Day, read a romance.

9) February 20 is Love Your Pet Day. Read a book in which a pet plays a major role. Some ideas here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

10) Read a non-fiction book written for young adults or that would appeal to young adults. Some ideas found here: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...

Everything should be done on this thread - your questions, your plans and your progress.

Happy reading!

Sorry about that. I was just looking for multiple possible lists and the top entries were all African American authors. I'll take that list off because that is confusing. Thanks for pointing my attention to it.

I don't see a problem with it. The definition of "teen" book could really mean anything of interest to teens and I'd say that fits.
