Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 232 comments Has anyone here made use of the "recommend it" feature on goodreads' book pages as a way to let others know about your own book(s)? What kind of response do you get from that? Does anyone view it as spam?

Patrick (horrorshow) | 33 comments Yeah, it is viewed as spam if an author recommends his or her own book. However if someone else does it, then it would make you more credible. Maybe you can convince one author or friend to do that for you to people who you think would like your book.

Bernadette (bernadettesimpson) I've not used it to promote my own book, but I do get a lot of recommendations from other author "friends". Most recommend other people's books that they have read and reviewed. A few suggest their own books. I don't mind either way, but then again, I'm an understanding author! I enjoy learning about the books. Others obviously may view it as spam.
