Jeni Metaphorically, the stigma, the shunning, and the prejudice against Lupin correlates with similar societal behaviors that HIV patients endure.

It also bears mentioning that you can contract HIV in many ways that have nothing to do with sex and I do not feel she intended the parallels to be taken so specifically.

It's more of a social commentary on behaviors that can be directed toward those affected with HIV.
