Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Hi all,
Please submit your short story or anthology nominations in this thread. Be sure to either link to the book or provide enough info to make it clear which book you're referring to.

One nomination per person, and no self-nominations.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) So I'll start things off:

The Best Alternate History Stories of the 20th Century by Harry Turtledove

I picked this one up the other day and it looks really cool. :D

Teresa (teresatheterrible) What about a Neil Gaiman anthology like Fragile Things: short fictions and wonders or Smoke and Mirrors. I THINK I may have nominated him for December already...if I did, I'll delete this and post something else...

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) It was brought up, but you mentioned THe Bloody Chamber first, so I used that one on the poll. Keep it for this one. Fragile Things is a fantastic collection. :D

message 5: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresatheterrible) Cool! I'm excited! :-)

JessicaMarie (jessicadoten) I agree Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman is amazing, especially the story entitled, "October in the Chair." Fragile Things is my vote.

message 7: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresatheterrible) Good! Cause I'm reading Smoke & Mirrors now *hangs head in shame* So yeah! Lets do Fragile Things for the read! ;-)

message 8: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Okie dokie... Nobody else has suggested anything, so if there are no objections, I'm good with just calling it and doing Fragile Things. :)

message 9: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresatheterrible) However ya wanna do it is A-OK with me!!!

message 10: by JessicaMarie (new)

JessicaMarie (jessicadoten) I'm actually reading smoke and mirrors now too lol. Fragile Things was much better in my opinion. Hope everyone likes it!

Teresa (teresatheterrible) I can't wait for Fragile Things! I only have 2 stories left in Smoke & Mirrors. And although I know 'My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me' really bombed, I wasn't aware it was a read, or I'd have been all over that one! I LOVED that collection!!! Which brings me to my next point...a February nomination (and believe me, I KNOW this is waaayyy early to nominate for February, but I'm an excited reader, ya know? lol)!!! If anyone is planning on doing an alphabet challenge, xo Orpheus: Fifty New Myths would be like THE perfect book for an 'x,' right??? It would also be a splendid read for this group, seeing as how it IS an anthology of shorts. Just thought I'd throw that one out there; its sitting on my shelf, just waiting for 2014's alphabet challenge (the first year I've planned to do one...we'll see how it goes!). Let me know what y'all think! Thanks!
~Teresa~

Teresa (teresatheterrible) Are we still on for Fragile Things? I'm SUPER excited for it!!!

message 13: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Yup - I actually just picked it up yesterday in a 3 for 2 sale. :)

message 14: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresatheterrible) YAY! That's awesome. I guess we'll have a thread and breakdown of the book posted soon, then. I'm super excite, in case ya can't tell! ;-)
