Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments In preparation for the Armchair Travelers Challenge, I'm running several DC threads where we can put together a list of books or series that are set in the different continents or European cities.

I, for one, will be checking these threads for suggestions.

Kasia Ok so I have a separate shelf for East Asia, if anybody is interested: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...

I've read and I can recommend:

Cloud of Sparrows - Samurai vs new world order.
Autumn Bridge - Sequel to Cloud of Sparrows, and it's even better, because there's a magical element to it.
Out - A little dark, intense but so worth it!

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Hmm...

James Clavell's books I believe are mostly set in Asia.

A classic book that I love is The Good Earth by Pearl Buck.

True, they all are looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong though, so that might be a little discouraging when it comes to a time limited challenge. But hey, if you're brave enough, Clavell is an awesome writer.

Yeah, Shogun is a 2 inch thick paperback with about 1200 thin pages. I opted to skip Clavel. lol Not enough time to brave that.
