Seems like a stupid question I know, but I just wanted to know, because throughout the book he spells the word mum with a 'u' and not an 'o' like americans do.

I know he lives in Florida and John Green is American (?) so... is Q supposed to be British, or Aussie, or just not American, living in America?

Lauren Carpenter I call my mother "Mum" sometimes myself and I am Canadian. But I was also raised in a Scottish family. So you might be onto something there. : ) I never really gave that a second thought.

Ah okay. I always pick that up in books, since the majority of them I read are American and it was just a surprise to see it spelt 'mum' :p

Lauren Carpenter Well it's very perceptive of you. I never really pay attention to any of that.

I am a grammar freak. To me, it's second nature to pick something like that up.

Hannah Its possible it was a type-o. Did it happen more than once?

Every time.
