Ohio’s Supreme Court upheld the firing of an eighth-grade science instructor who taught creationism instead of evolution to his students.

Jimmy It is so hard to find qualified science teachers. I can tell you that this type of person is around more than people realize. Can you imagine what science teachers are like in the Bible belt? They can attack evolution in subtle ways.

My college biology professor at USC, who got her PhD in biology from Auburn, taught the class that evolution is unquestionably real, but that it is what "God" used to create us. My mind was still somewhat poisoned by religion at the time, but I still knew that that wasn't rational at all, especially given the fossil record shows trial and error rather than omnipotent design. She also taught us that our epigenomes (this was before very recent breakthroughs in our understanding of the subject) could code for our "souls". It was all very shocking an embarrassing.

I forgot to mention that we skipped over the chapter on evolution. This was a bio 101 class that evolution was mentioned a single time and that it was created by a supernatural being.
