Beth (canadianbeth) | 22 comments I can knit but not crochet. I tried but just could not do it. I used to knit afghans and sweaters but got away from it for awhile so now can just do the basic stitch. I knit scarves for a community group that donates items to the Childrens' Hospital - afghans, sweaters, mitts, toques, scarves, etc. I have uploaded pictures of my scarves to my blog in the past but am not up to date with it.

My major passion is cross stitch.

Gail (koalabear3) Beautiful scarf Nina. What kind of yarn was that? I have been trying to find some really soft yarn to make scarves for my grandchildren but they always seem rough after they are done.

message 12: by Nina (new)

Nina | 39 comments Wish I knew, it was given to me with the labels off, but it's thin, and soft, maybe a really thin mohair type yarn. The pattern is part of a set, there is a shawl I did to match the scarf pattern. But I really like the scarf better.

Gail (koalabear3) Thanks...they feel soft but than after you knot or crochet with them they don't feel so soft...The scarf is really pretty but looks too hard for me.

Nina | 39 comments if you can do purl, over yarns and knit, then you can do just about any pattern, use a stickie note to keep your place in the pattern, my blog has some lace knitting patterns that are really easy to do,

message 15: by Gail (new)

Gail (koalabear3) Thanks Nina I will check it out when I have a free minute...I can purl and knit but I have never done the yarn over...

Harlequin Books (harlequinbooks) | 6 comments I don't personally knit but my daughter has started. She just finished her first scarf and headband and then she got a brillant idea. She has knitted little American doll-sized scarfs and headbands that she plans on donating to the children's ward at hospitals for the nurses to give patients for Christmas. She is going to donate some children's books as well so it will be a nice little package for them. :) ~ Kim S.
