I have now finished this book which was the last in the series i am still not a 100% sure what was the Rifted between the Mast Family & Ebersol one it can't just be because Jonas goes to Ohio
If anyone can clarify this for me i appreciate it

I believe that the Mast family blamed Leah for getting Jonas shunned from the community; although I'm not sure about the logic behind that she was responsible for it.
