Ohh lord ladies, I just read the "spoilers" on her Facebook page from her signing for Immortal ( Fallen Angels) today................... I am not happy!!!! She previously stated somewhere that the BDB & Fallen Angels were not connected but based on the questions and answers I'm gonna need to read the darn Fallen angels series. People did ask about Qhuinn/Blay/Layla/Xcor and I'm not liking all the answers. She did say that something happens at the beginning of The Shadows that changes s'eXs attitude and that the SV will be seen at the beginning of the book. What say you ladies if you've seen the post?

Don't have Facebook so haven't seen that one personally. But I did hear a rumor a long while ago that the angel books would some how be connected. So that is why I've been gritting my teeth through those. Thankfully just 6 books and the newest one is available so can wrap that part of it up. As for the other stuff. Fingers crossed it's not something that will cause me to burn a book. :(

I don't pay attention to her FB. in the BDB group I am in on here, they usually post her updates and spoilers etc.. but I don't read all of em. But I did know a long time ago that she was going back on her initial words, sayin FA and BDB wouldn't really merge. Wasn't happy about it, but I was already reading FA. I still need to finish it though. It's a decent series. I only read up to book 3. I was waiting for the series to be completed before I continued on. Since final book is out I'll get back to it soon.I hate spoilers so generally I don't read them, but since the Shadows book has so much riding on it for me, I'm stayin away from any new info concerning that book till it comes out.
Smart ladies. I came across it by accident. I've read book 1 of FA and stopped halfway through book 2. I guess I'll force myself to read the series so I don't miss anything. :|

I think Ward seriously thought FA would be just as well received as the BDB. the fact that it wasn't, I think was a hard wake up call for her & her publishers. It's a popular series, no doubt, cos it's one that she's written. But most of the feedback/discussions I've seen concerning the series since it came out, is either people hate it or they struggle with it to continue. I like the series. I think it has a great premise etc.. but I don't love it. Which is why I could walk away from it till all the books were out.
I think ALOT of her BDB fans went into FA thinkin/hoping that it would be just as great with a similar tone as the BDB. That's one of the most common comments I come across concerning the FA series. Which is not fair really, when judging a series. It was suppose to be & feel different. it's a different series. with a different premise/plot. I never went into it expecting such things & maybe that's why overall I like it. But I do get why many don't.
I think Ward is pulling a greedy, low down move though by merging the series in a way where you'd have to read both, in the later books, in order to know what's happening with the BDB. Something she swore up & down she'd never do. That's bogus. Greedy. And just wrong. Cos she's essentially forcing a lot of her fans to read a series that otherwise they wouldn't read.
I wasn't shocked though when I found out a while back that she was going to do it. it was clear she was heading that way when she put that ridiculous "Sales Pitch" for her FA book Envy, in the middle of "Lover Unleashed" *rolls eyes*

The writing just didn't seem as fluid as in BDB. Should have realized though because there were hints throughout her later BDB books. Assail lives in the house that was being built in Covet. Marie Terese was the main character and how she saw Butch and Phury. Which was funny since she worked at the clubs that the brothers hung out in why didn't she recognize them? I got stuck in the middle of book 2 of FA because the characters were just not that interesting to me. The romance seems forced in these books.
I agree the writing definitely isn't as fluid as BDB.. I never felt the romances are forced though, not that I remember. Just that they weren't as hot, intense for me.I never saw the cameos early on or the house Assail lives in etc.. as a sign she would eventually completely merge the series', cos she said certain things would be linked just cos these stories take place in the same city basically. But it was the Envy pitch that made me think she just may merge them.
I'll proudly raise my hand and say I was on the gravy train expecting another BDB style story in regards to FA. Because that is what I came to expect from Ward. Can say what we will about her, but more often than not she has proven she can write some badasses. So that is what I was looking for. In particular badass angels like our boy Lassi. Which more than anything else got me to consider reading this series in the first place. Cause normally I would not have as I don't really get into the whole angel, fallen or otherwise thing too much in my PNR or UF stories. Save for Ione's Demonica and Lords of Deliverance books. So that was my 'tude going in. Actually reading the first book. I'm sorry, but I felt like the writing totally regressed from what she had given us in the BDB books. I don't know about her more human series or how she writes under her Bird name. But to me personally FA felt very remedial like she was just starting out and not like she had been writing for years at all. I'm all for different characters, tone, heck even a quality bit of crossing over between series. But when you have dynamite characters in one series and sorta okay but not quite there characters in another. And then you try and link the two series. When said second series doesn't have that strong a leg to stand on. Noooo, way is that gonna work and feel natural.
I also agree with you Kathryn that the romances did feel very forced and kind of awkward. I mean I felt more sizzle ironically between the two angels that were together but not really saying anything about their relationship. Than the actual humans. I also felt the unexplained attraction between the main character(sooo blanking on his name since it's been forever since I've read the books) and that chick they couldn't save, was/is beyond skeevy. As there is no real justification behind any of it at all. And even at one point she had more balls than said main character. And to me that is not a good balance when you want readers to believe this is going to be some primo couple of the year. Makes no sense at all.
Jodean wrote: "Darius, son of Marklon, aka Tehrror"Isn't this JM's (John Matthew's) Warrior name? Darius, I think, is one of the Original Brothers without a traditional Warrior name. If I'm remembering correctly. It's been a minute since I read the earlier books involving Darius & JM
John Matthew (a.k.a. Tehrror), believed to be the son of Darius, is actually the reincarnation of Darius. The other Vampires believe him to be the half-brother to Beth Randall, and as a result, he is considered the brother-in-law to King Wrath II. He is mated to Xhex.
Yeah. I know all that. I just meant Jm's name is Terror not Darius'. Darius never had a traditional warrior name.. Though JM is Darius reincarnated, they are still separate beings.
Jodean wrote: "But he was the first Tehrror"Technically, I guess you could look at that way, but I don't. Because Darius was not given that name at birth, nor did he have it while alive. It was given solely to JM and used as a beacon of sorts, to send him into the Brotherhood fold to fulfill the promise that the SV made to Darius in the Fade.
And putting JM's origins aside, he's still very much his own person/character. So that title/name I see as his and his alone.
I stand corrected he was the second Tehrror, his father was the first, I love Darius and hope J.R. writes a book about him this is everything I have for Darius maybe it will help clear things up. I understand how you feel about John but he is in fact Darius he just does not remember because the Scribe Virgin erased his memories.Darius – begotten son of Tehrror – Black Dagger Brother

Yeah.. I like that he doesn't know or the Brothers either. If they would ever find out, it would undo so much stuff and basically make JM's story pointless. And cause so much mess & confusion among everyone it touches. So I love knowing something that none of the Brothers are aware of. I use to want a story on Darius as well. Now, that ship has sailed for me.
