I just got this one from the library the other day. I've heard so many good things about it from other GR readers that I am really looking forward to reading it. = )
I loved this book. There are a couple of parts that have stayed with me (as I read it a while ago). I loved when the woman of the couple was talking and she said that she loved more than one man. Her husband. That through-out their marriage, her husband changes (like all people change) and she has to re-fall in love with him every time. I loved that. I thought it was very insightful and sweet.
The sci-fi stuff, I was able to ignore, pass over and just accept at face value (since I"m not really into scifi stuff).
But it was the end that I loved the best. This group of men sitting around judging him. That they could could believe all those horrible things about the main character: that he had become a sex-hungry child killing monster. But they couldn't believe the most obvious, horrible truth. I loved the challenge to the stereotype and the assumptions.
Men are just as capable of being raped as women.
I found this book quite disturbing. I gave it 4 stars, because it is well written and thought provoking, and it built up to the rather ghastly ending which to me explained everything but left more questions than it answered. Also agree with you Trisha, the character of Anne was my favourite-she got all the best lines. Hmm have just re-read this and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you read the book you'll know what I mean!
