Kayam What did you think about the last installment of the Divergent series, everyone? Post your comments below.

Aline I didn't like. The plot is weak and there is a lot of things that are not explained very well. They spent a lot time talking about a determined stuff and then start to running everything else to finish the book. Its jot good.

Xmzv Ah, Divergent trilogy. One of the best series I've read. I thought the ending of Allegiant was intense [though.. It made my emotions go beserk]. I pretty much knew what happened at the end though.
I was somewhere in the 150's in Allegiant when my friend says, "Oh, I was on Tumblr and I found out that [yadayadayada. Not going to spoil it for those who haven't read Allegiant yet.]. I just sat there on my desk, staring at her, wanting to strangle her.
"WHY WOULD YOU RUIN THE ENDING OF THE WHOLE TRILOGY YOU [insert insult here]. I CAN'T EVEN DIE IN PEACE NOW." No, but seriously. It really ruined my life. :|
BUT OTHER THAN THAT, I thought it was pretty good. Though, I'm still a bit disappointed in the ending.
I thought Tris and Four would get married and all that lovey dovey things ;-;

Kristen I agree with Aline. There was too much explanation on things that didn't really matter and then the actual plot falls apart because of things not mentioned or things contradicting or whatever.
Sadly, I think it would have been relatively easy to make it lots better.

Kaitlyn I liked Allegiant, even though it had a VERY VERY sad ending ;-;
MY FRIEND on the other hand read the epilogue first, and ditched the book because she said she didn't like it (What?) I thought it was a good book even though i was sobbing at the ending but... i still love it!

☽Ƹɱɱɑ☾ I cried at the ending...me, who has only cried once while reading a book apart from Allegiant. I understand why she did it, but I don't agree with her.

Really? Books make me cry all the time. But maybe it's just the type of books I read...I couldn't see for like half the series, I was crying so much when I read Liz Curtis Higgs Lowlands of Scotland series.

☽Ƹɱɱɑ☾ I feel sad a lot while reading, and I feel what the character is feeling. I guess sadness just doesn't trigger my tears. Sometimes a book makes me feel a little depressed for days afterwards.

Kristen **SPOILERS**

Yeah, I think I'm just really emotional. Quite a change from how I used to be...I still tear up every time I watch the end of Homeward Bound, haha

But yeah, I was more angry at the end of Allegiant. Not so much that she dies, but because Four is left all alone.

☽Ƹɱɱɑ☾ Yeah. And some people say they hope Four gets another girl, but if he did I would be mad at him. I can't see him with someone other than Tris.

Kristen Well, I hope that eventually he would be able to move on and be happy. It would be really sad if he was consumed by grief for the rest of his life.

Sydney I am not mad at the ending, at least that made me feel something.

It's like Roth needed to wrap stuff up so she throws all this action in at the beginning, all these answers we've waited till the final book to know and she totally rushes through them. So after everything has been cleared up and Tris (should have kept it only her perspective too, because 4 turned into a blubbering girl instead of a strong FEARLESS man) finally finds all the answers they spend like 15 chapters waiting for something to happen. She tries to throw in all these characters that we are suddenly supposed to care about, and this "genetic" (oooh your spin on race) war that barely even makes sense. IT WAS A HOT MESS.

The ending was brutal and I think done for shock. Not cool. But at least it left a deafening mark and end to the series.

Maya At first, I was spitting mad, hated Veronica Roth, and may curses rain down on the whole book that is spent twenty bucks on. Then I thought a lot about it, rewrote my review, realized a bunch of the metaphor, and still didn't like it! (But didn't hate it.) Go figure....

message 15: by Kayam (new) - added it

Kayam Yeah, I think that Divergent and Insurgent was awesome, but Roth could have done a better job on that ending. *tears dripping down face*

Carri I was so disappointed with the ending. I have been recommended Divergent to EVERYONE. Now I want to say "stop reading now"!!! I felt like Allegiant made the first 2 books and everything the characters when through irrelevant. Sadly it ruined the series for me, a series that I was completely in love with.

Mirkat Hrm, I feel as though I am the opposite of everyone. I felt as though Allegiant blew the other books away. I almost never five-star a book, yet I five-starred Allegiant. (Divergent = 2.5 stars rounded up to 3; Insurgent = solid 3 stars.)

message 18: by Andy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Andy Casas I know I may be restating some things, but I felt like Roth over emphasized minute things that weren't all that important and then she just rushed over some of the important answers we were all waiting for, but I still love the book but Divergent was my favorite in the series.

Carri I am bothered by the serums. If Tris could resist the serums because she was divergent or Genetically Pure, then why did the death serum and memory serum work on all the other people in the compound that were also genetically pure? Or did I not understand that part correctly?

message 20: by Andy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Andy Casas She was special somehow it didn't really get into it

Laura Rath She had an aptitude for 3 factions which has never happened before, I'm pretty sure. It was a rarity to get 2.

Kristen Tris could resist most of the serums, but they never said anyone else could.
Some of them, yes. Tobias wasn't actually divergent and he resisted the simulation one, but Tris was the only one who was able to resist the truth serum. At least that they mention. She was never actually tested with the memory serum though, so maybe she wouldn't have resisted it.

And don't forget, her resistance was somewhat selective. She succumbed to the peace serum because she wasn't trying very hard to fight it.
At another time, she might have been susceptible to the death serum.

But I think she was some sort of anomaly. No one else was as resistant as she was.

Carri so, is she "cleaner" than the people that were running the program that were considered "GP"?

message 24: by Kayam (new) - added it

Kayam I guess so

Kristen I think of it more like this: The people running the experiments, from what I understand, are people whose parents, grandparents, etc. never had their genes altered. So they're just regular people.

Divergent people are what they're trying to accomplish with the experiments. Their parents, grandparents, etc. had their genes messed with or were 'damaged' due to heredity.

So even though David and Tris are both "genetically pure", Tris is still the product of altered genes. Her ancestors had messed up genes and she's 'fixed', but she's still not just a regular person.

So yeah, you could think of it as her being "cleaner" than David and the other GPs. Sort of like a step above.

chinami sad ending.

I agree

Karen Absolutely devastating!! I enjoyed the book but that ending was unneccessary.

Bow tie and Fez Addict I loved this book and hated this book at the same time. The beginning was good, then you got to the middle and Tobias starts acting really stupid so, don't judge, I put down the book for a couple days so I didn't through it against a wall. Then the end was one of the saddest things I've ever read. And I just sat there and stared at the last page for an hour without saying anything then cried myself to sleep. So to sum it up- only happy part, annoyingly stupid Tobias, death all around, tears.

Ninja_Narwhal~{Same O'l Popsgrub}~ The thing I hate. There were so many thing to lead up to. They had so !much to do. And there is a point where Tobias holds her stomach? WHAT IF SHE IS PREGGERS!!!!

Carri Katie, I agree. Tobias just did not act like Tobias in this book. I won't call him Four in this book because he seemed to be afraid of everything! The characters felt different to me. I also took like a 2 day break in the middle of the book, pretty much because I knew that something bad was going to happen by peoples reactions to the book.

Sravya Aleti Since I was young, I have always known

this: Life damages us, every one. We

can’t escape that damage.

But now, I am also learning this: We

can be mended. We mend each other.
-tobias from allegiant!
the only book that killed its main character......pretty brave but good ending...i guess i should have known half the book was about her talking about sacrifice.

message 33: by Geff (new) - rated it 4 stars

Geff Honestly I didn't like the ending as much as the first two books, but it's alright. Unexpected ending, but I hoped it

(SPOILER!!!!!)

was Tobias who died in the end and not Tris.

Ashley Omg sorry for spoiler but veronica did not just kill the main character. I threw the book across the room once done.

Angela I didn't like the confusing back and forth 1st person narrative between Tris and Tobias in this novel and the storyline was not as compelling to me as the previous two novels in the series. That being said, I actually began to enjoy the book more towards the end. I felt that while not the ideal turnout, the ending was fitting and satisfing for both main characters and true to their personalities. I know that there are a lot of people criticizing this book simply because of the ending, and I don't feel the assessment of this book should be based solely on the ending and whether or not you were happy about it. There are no guaranteed happy ending in novels as in life, that's what so great about them. Anyone who will only be satisfied with a happy ending should be watching Disney movies instead.

Haley Baker don't read this book unless you want your life to end in pain and misery
