Rob G. (rdgarland) | 16 comments I've been playing way too much Assassin's Creed 4 lately and have gotten re-obsessed with all things pirate and got to thinking that, with the exception of Treasure Island, I've never read a really great pirate-themed novel. I'm looking for any recommendations, but I'm particularly fond of things more to the fantastic instead of the realistic. Also, NO ROMANCE NOVELS! Just the thought of reading on of those sends me into an ALL-CAPS RAGE! I would really like to find a great pirate-themed fantasy novel or series. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Nick Hoy | 8 comments I've got two options for you..
First, is On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers. This was written in the late 80's and is a classic pirate fantasy novel. However, I have a second alternative. It is not an ocean pirate tale. It follows an anti-hero and his band of men through dark lands and a darker quest. It's a remarkable series filled with dark deeds... Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence.

Rob G. (rdgarland) | 16 comments Thanks for the info. I have heard of Prince of Thorns before, but I haven't read it. It's part of a trilogy, isn't it? I'll check these out. Keep the suggestions coming! Also, has anyone read any of the Bloody Jack series? They sound neat, but I'm afraid that they may be a little "young adult" for what I'm looking for. Don't get me wrong. I've read some great YA novels, but these just strike me as a bit...too kiddy.
