This review may contain a spoiler but not a big one!! Don't read any further!!! I just finished reading Allegiant and I love the book but I hate the ending. It was the only way for the book to end now that I look back but I never saw it coming. It is so unfair because it seems like everyone dies!!

I thought the book was a waste of time. It made the other 2 books absolutely pointless. It wasn't just the ending. The book felt rushed and didn't make any sense to the story from the previous 2. If the faction wars were going to be solved by Tobias just asking his mommy, then they never would have needed to leave the city and the 3rd book wouldn't have been written. I now wish I had never even started the series. I will not be going to see the movie.i will never recommend this series to anyone again.

I think that the ending, although shocking was fitting. The characters lived in a world that was going through immense change and unrest - of course there is going to be violence. I think that there was never going to be a happy ending for all of the characters. In YA literature we are so used to happy endings and love conquering all, but that isn't reality.
At first I was upset because I had come to love Tris over the series, but I would say that A LOT of people over reacted. I still intend on seeing the movie(s) when they are released because it is still a good story whether or not you agree with the ending. I think that the best stories/movies/songs/whatever are those that evoke an emotional response of some sort. I think that it would be far worse if people read this series and went, "meh".

**SPOILERS**
Overall, I think the last book was good, but it could have been much better. I would have liked a more plausible story behind the experiments and more consistency with the people conducting them.
Supposedly, they greatly value the divergent people, but they allow a bunch of them to be killed in Chicago. They can't be bothered to interfere when Jeanine goes on a killing spree of the divergent or when anything else happens, but they can interfere to place Tris' mom and to give Jeanine the serum that allows her to go on her psycho killing spree.
And of course to reset the experiments when they get out of hand.
If they were willing to reset an entire city to make it work, why not Jeanine and her predecessor before they could screw the whole thing up in the first place?
And, while I understand why Tris was killed, I don't buy that it would have happened if they believed the way they did about divergence. Tris was uber-divergent and basically the only person in the country who was the nearly perfect product of their experiments. I don't buy that they would have killed her so easily. Tranquilized, locked up, and force her to pass on her genes some way, sure. But they wouldn't kill her.
Also, there are alot of things that don't make sense. Many which would have been easy to fix.
For example, the way the story is presented, the population at that point would have been exponentially larger than it is. This could have been addressed by saying that the government is tyrannical and wipes people out occasionally. And keep them on reservations or districts like in the Hunger Games.
We saw the factionless overthrow the government in the Chicago experiment because no one was paying attention to them and treated them like they were worthless. The exact same conditions exist in the rest of the country, at least, so the exact same scenario would have happened long before Tris was born.
Therefore, the entire series never would have happened.
But I liked the writing and the characters. I just wish the big surprise of what's outside the fence was alot better.

Spoiler alert
I get the ending and why she decided to kill Trish but it was a waste of time reading the final book and four was very boring and I really wouldn't mind if he died, in the end Trish deserve to live with all she's been through and her dying was a waste of a character.

It feels like the book is just about Tris' choices. All of it is supposed to be about choices, I guess. The point of the people outside the fence was just almost possibly a shadow on Allegiant. The book, as of what I think now, is just a pointless conclusion to the trilogy. After all, Veronica Roth did said in one of her blog posts that Tris made the decision herself. It feels like Veronica just gave us an idea of what WE want (the world outside the fence), rather than the whole concept map of HER book (the ending and the character's fate).
Tris' death is not to be blamed, but I did once I finished the book. She quickly realize, based on what Veronica posted on her blog, that her parents sacrificed themselves so that Tris can live, and that she has a life worth sacrificing for. At the end of Allegiant, when Caleb and Tris gathered their guts to reset everyone's memory, Tris got attached to what her parents did for her. That is a character. If you would put it that way, she is a character that resembles a rare characteristics. But that choice did not lived the high expectations of Roth's readers.
Someone quoted that favorite characters tends to die in the final book of the series. I believe that is true, or so I thought. It may be coincidence, since Tris' death have been made up entirely. Or it can be the fact of all opinions.
Allegiant left it's world in mid-air. I do wonder whether Caleb successfully accomplished the job, regardless of Tris' decision, and if the plan sort of worked out. AND, I do wonder what Four's life will be after her death. It seems to be pointless now, I know. But we need to understand how all of the decisions and choices affects the book we learned to love over the years of it's existence.

I hated...I expect so much more...I also think that made the first 02 books pointless. I would understand if Tris were killed by the serum (even when I don't like it) but there is no sense at David killing her if she was so important, and no sense at Tris and her friends being so careless about not having someone keeping a eye on David. I wish This DAVIS had the memory serum 04 times and forgot to eat and die of hunger ...Im furious
This book just felt wrong, I didn't see Tris's death coming so that was a big shock, and even after I skimmed the rest of the book looking for it to have been a dream or something. it did ruin the movie for me and I won't be going now. But even before her death it just felt wrong like someone else had tried to finish the series not Veronica. I couldn't tell the difference with the two POV's and often thought it was Tris's thoughts when it was Tobias. The concepts with the entire genetic damaged theory was just stupid and Tobia's over reaction was out of character for him. Evelyns change of heart was unbelievable. The progression of the romance between them was something out of a third rate romance novel and lost its chemistry. Overall the entire time I read the book I could not get caught up in the story like the last two books, I realized I was reading far fetched fiction.
I hated the book with a passion and I've had time to really think about why. Ok yes I'm going to say it I didn't agree with the necessity of killing Tris as a morality lesson. VR has stated that from the beginning that was her decision to kill Tris. I believe VR did an excellent job in creating Tris's world in Divergent. It seems to me that in Insurgent the story started to unravel a bit and things just fell apart in Allegiant. I believe it's because VR was so hung up on trying to kill Tris. Ok she says she wasn't trying to shock us or be clever but wanted to be true to Tris's character. If this is so why did she write Tris's death in a manner that seemed to have been rushed? why did she write a death that seemed to be so unnecessary? If this book was a tribute to Tris and her beliefs and sacrifices it was a poor one. I think Tris deserved better than what VR gave her. VR was too preoccupied with killing Tris and she lost sight of every thing that mattered A GOOD STORY.
There's like no point in living anymore. Tris was the main character and Veronica Roth was just like, "Oh let's go ahead and kill her!" WHAT??? NO! LIKE NO!! THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS!! TRIS AND TOBIAS ARE SUPPOSED TO LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!!!!! UGGH I hate life!!!
Am I the only one who thought the last book was amazing? At least in my opinion it was.
I just strongly hated the ending but was so shocked because normally the main character doesn't die but this was definitely a twist though. I was so mad! Overall for me it was really good. Can't believe the series is over its my favorite trilogy!

I loved divergent, this is the book I fell in love with, the world, the characters I loved it. Insurgent and allegiant (especially allegiant) had a completely different feel to them and I felt cheated when I found out there world was a lie. It was one of the main reasons I loved Divergent. I found the change in POVs hard to follow I was always going back to see who I was hearing from. I found it very serious with barley any humour and I only got that fun light hearted feeling when they were teaching Caleb how to shoot.
I do think Roth is brave for the ending but I don't think she executed it at all. I agree with someone else on here when I read that all Tobias had to do was talk to his mum to stop a war and also then his dad ran off never to be found again. The plot is unsteady, hard to follow and rushed. I said before I loved divergent, liked insurgent, hated allegiant!
