Please join us this month in reading Heist Society by Ally Carter, chosen by October's "You Pick, I Pick" winner!

Heist Society (Heist Society, #1) by Ally Carter

Synopsis: When Katarina Bishop was three, her parents took her on a trip to the Louvre…to case it. For her seventh birthday, Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria…to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen, she planned a con of her own—scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country, determined to leave the family business behind. Unfortunately, leaving “the life” for a normal life proves harder than she’d expected.

Soon, Kat's friend and former co-conspirator, Hale, appears out of nowhere to bring Kat back into the world she tried so hard to escape. But he has a good reason: a powerful mobster has been robbed of his priceless art collection and wants to retrieve it. Only a master thief could have pulled this job, and Kat's father isn't just on the suspect list, he is the list. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat’s dad needs her help.

For Kat, there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what if it's a spectacularly impossible job? She's got two weeks, a teenage crew, and hopefully just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family's history--and, with any luck, steal her life back along the way.

You don't have to participate in the Group Read - it's entirely up to you, but if you read the book along with us or have already read it, we would love to hear your comments, questions, thoughts, ect. That's what makes the Group Read fun! Please keep from posting too many spoilers early in the month, though, as people might still be reading it. If you feel that you might "spoil" a part of the book by commenting, be sure to put something like "***Spoiler Alert***" or something to let others know to read at their own risk! And make sure to have fun!

Izzy (izzybookholics) What I think:
Though a bit confusing at times, Heist Society is a light, enjoyable read about art, crime, and a very special group of teens with an eye for very nice things and a spot of potential romance. I liked Katerina Bishop as a protagonist, though I did find it a little unbelievable that she could become so lax, and amateur, as such, in only 3 months away from the family life of thieving; I would think a lot of it would be engraved, since it was all she had known since she was born.

I'm starting this one now! It's my first introduction to Ally Carter, so I guess we'll see how it goes. :)

Kristina I'm listening to the audio book. The book is keeping my attention, but it's not mind blowing. I would continue with the series.
Will provide more feed back when I have finished. I'm on disc 3 of 5 I believe.

I just finished it! It's a pretty cute and quick read. I'll have to pick up the rest in the series eventually.

Kristina I also thought at times the story was confusing. It was hard to tell when she was thinking back while listening to the Audio book. I liked the story more than I thought I would as it progressed. It was a fun book to listen to and I enjoyed all the characters.
