oh yea, I love Who Knew as well.
How was the concert Melissa?
Skandia, I loved Lord's Fall. It made me like Pia and Dragos so much more. Just purchased
Can't wait to read that one!I started my dragon book and changed it to
since I needed to read this for another challenge. So far, it's about what the reviews said. A little slow to get started but it seems to have potential.
I'm almost halfway into my kick-ass heroine book! My goal is to finish it tonight and then on to my dragon book!
Pink concert was awesome. We had some great seats. She is an amazing performer and puts on a great show. I was telling Leslie in another thread was kind of glad that Pink is now a mom as I'm sure her show is a little toned down from what it was in the past. Even with that my daughter (almost 12) "Mom that is so 'inappropro'" - made me laugh. Had to tell her ~ you know there is a ton going on up on that stage. Anything you don't like you certainly don't have to watch. It was such a great experience with my daughter - wouldn't change it. Totally interesting how diverse the crowd was. Young people, couples with young children all the way up to grandparents.

Review:#6 in Mercy Thompson series. This one mostly revolved around Mercy and Adam. It was interesting to have a book not have any of the other main characters in it - only cameos or name mentions from them. Didn't like at all that Fae Uncle Mike basically set them up on their honeymoon (they went camping in a trailer - so not my idea of a honeymoon -hehe) no less to check something out for the fae. We get to learn more about Mercy's father, background and about spirit walkers in general as well as meet some. Loved Coyote. He was quite the character. Will be interesting to see if he becomes part of the rest of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed this one - my only issue was it kind of seemed like the author felt she had to throw a monster into the mix. Definitely can't wait til next month to see what happens to this couple in the next book.

Not sure if you have this song already but Sober is 0.69 on iTunes today. My daughter and I both downloaded it. I'm sure we'll download some others before the end of the week :)
@Melissa - good to hear you enjoyed the concert! I still can't belive she was performing twice in San Jose this year and I managed to miss both times.I try to finish my dragons book today if there will not be too much of Elder Races politics. It just puts me off sometimes.

Fifth book in Elder Races series and with familiar main characters - The Wyr Lord Dragos and his mate Pia.
Dragos and Pia are not my favorite couple in series but still this was a good story.
This time Pia tries to help Dragos settle an old dispute between Wyr and Elves. She travels to Elves demesne to meet the Elven leaders but something unexpected happens and once more Dragos has to come to rescue.
Somehow slow beginning but then fast pace action, not much Elder Races politics I don't particularly care about and the ever amusing power struggle between Dragos and Pia makes this book really enjoyable. The old dragon lord still struggles to control his young stubborn mate and learns to trust in her decisions and let go of his autocratic need to rule her like his subjects.
This series gets better with every book and as the sixth book has just been published, I can't wait to read it ASAP.
Week 1: Kick-Ass-Heroine

Review:4.5 stars Loved this entry in the Mercedes Thompson series though it was very different from others. In this one Mercy and Adam have married and are on their honeymoon and encounter visitors from her Indian heritage and Mercy ends up fighting a fantastical river creature. Adam has to learn to trust her and Mercy discovers how deep her feelings for Adam run. It is an intense, but also introspective story and while it drags a little in the middle, it always held my interest. I loved learning about Mercy's origins and enjoyed Adam and her interactions. I would have liked a little peek into their bedroom, voyeur that I am but I appreciate the author's reticence.
Week 1: Dragons

This is a new series and a new author for me and it has a lot of potential. Didn't quite live up to it's potential, but not a bad start. I'm not sure if it quite knows whether it's Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance, however. There is a romance in the story but it's not always in the forefront of the story. The worldbuilding seems to be a mishmash of Norse mythology, shifters, magic and not sure what else. The biggest issue I had is there seemed to be a lack of tension in the story even though there was quite a bit of action. But I will definitely be reading the next one as it left me intrigued.

Wow! This book was amazing! I felt bad for what Charley went through, but was glad that the guy got what he deserved in the end! Also, how could Chaley's dad betray her like that? I know he worries about her, but Charley is great at what she does! Can't wait to see where this series goes in the fourth book!

Review: #3 of the Dragonfire series. Erik Sorensson is the leader of the Pyr hoping to triumph over the Slayers. The Pyr gather with the Wyvern to have the Dragon's Egg reveal who the third firestorm will be for. Erik is shocked to see a face that he recognizes in the Dragon;s Egg. The face of Eileen Grovesnor is a replica of Louisa who was his firestorm years before. He is confused as no Pyr gets to have two firestorms in their lifetime. Eileen and Erik need to work together to right things from the past. This story revealed more of the past of the Pyr and what had happened to deplete their race over time. You also get more of Boris and Magnus' evil plots for the Slayers against the Pyr. The rest of the Dragon's Teeth also show up in this book. Which side will ultimately end up with them?
I enjoyed finding out more about the past of the Pyr. Specifically about Erik and how he came to be the leader. It seemed like this time around Erik's mate was more grown up and able to deal with what life would have in store for her and Erik. This story more than the two previous gave me a better idea of where the story will be going. Looking forward to #4.
Good morning Team! Subbing in MS Science today. Fun!Melissa - good to know that you liked this book so much. I've read the first two and they were just okay for me. Guess I need to pick up this third one now. Thanks!!
I'm hoping that my free shelf book will match for Bingo, so I'm not starting it yet.

I read book 1 about 2+ years ago and so I wish so much time had not passed in between. I remembered some things but it just wasn't fresh.
It is nice to have a chinese heroine as I often read about ivory skinned protagonists all day. So Lily yu made me think of Nikita's actress Maggie Q (who will be in the new movie Divergent as a dauntless leader named Tori)
Anyway, in this book, the always analytic Lily was trying to make sense of her new "mate bond" with Nikolai princess Rule Turner. She just isn't content with accepting it because it feels forced upon her.
but then she is pulled into another investigation as dead bodies resembling the handy work of Harlowe require her expertise. Rule gets sucked into the demon realm, so Lily has to find her mate and figure out who is behind the attacks and why they are after her.
she gets new friends to work with in this one, Cullen & Chynna. They have chemistry, so I hope they get a mate-bond and not just sex between them in this series.
*nice addition of demons and dragons to the mix.

Review: So...this was an interesting beginning to a series. While I enjoyed the storyline and the potential for where it can lead - especially with all that happened in the epilogue. I kind of feel like all the sex was over the top and wasn't always necessary to move the story along. As those who have done buddy reads with me or have seen other posting (or really look at the books I've read) I'm not opposed to sex in books - it's when it appears to take over the book I have a problem. I'm hoping it was just cuz the hero of this story is sort of the alpha of the group. Loved the secondary characters of Sherra and Taber as well as Merinus(sp??) brother Kane. I liked that Merinus wasn't a pushover to the big bad "Lion-O" Callan. Callan was so the total alpha male package as well as protective leader of his Pride.

Review:Suzanne Barrons rents out the other apt in her building to Navy Commander John Huntington - the most gorgeous and dangerous man she's ever met. Within minutes of meeting her, John decides he has to have her. Within in a few days someone is trying to kill Suzanne and she has no idea who. I'm not sure the author meant this to be fun/funny but it was to me. Watching this alpha male who is used to just taking what he wants and having spent years never putting more than 10-15 minute effort into finding out if the girl wants to get laid to then having "these feelings" for a classy, beautiful women. All at the same time he needs to not have his emotions involved while he tries to keep her safe.
Weird side note - went to look to see who book #2 is about and it's MC's are already together in book 1 - that's odd??
Week 2: Shelf 3/Romance (personal shelf)
11/11/12 ***** stars
It's so hard to write a review on the 25th book but I will try. I loved this one. Much more police procedural as Eve hunts for a serial killer she was first introduced to as a rookie. Roarke works closely with her on this one - actually at the police station as they hunt down the killer. It is taut and surprisingly emotional. Loved it!
Good morning! Finished
last night - will get my review up either tonight or tomorrow. I had my one evening manager duty yesterday which makes for a lllooonnngg day - 12hrs at work :(

Second and final book in YA time-travel duology.
The love story of Anna and Bennett who find a way to stay together although 17 years between them and living in a different cities.
Bennett is testing his time-traveling abilities to the limit and almost loses Anna during his experiments to change the past events.
I have not read The Time Travelers Wife, so I really can't compare those books, but I can imagine that this is somewhat a YA version of this book.
Good story, interesting twists and good writing as well. Very refreshing YA book without constant drama and angst and surprisingly mature characters.

She should be a great live artist. My favorite song by her is "Who Knew" - one of the older ones, too.
I'm really liking my dragons book Lord's Fall so far although Pia and Dragos are not my favorite Wyrs.
I think the Elder Races series gets better with every book.
