Much love for Dark Gods and the Monk (in part because I own them; I have had no luck trying to find Harvest Home, and buying Angel for this month pretty much scrapped my budget).
I vote for The Other, or something by Brian Evenson (I haven't read anything by him yet, but I heard good things). I would also like to read Her Smoke Rose Up Forever by James Tiptree Jr.
Dark Gods is flippin' superb... such a shame he's not written more. Based on the short amount he did write, he's one of the best ever.
He's amazing. I keep trying to sit down and reread "Petey" to figure out exactly how he builds such slowly growing tension and dread, and I keep getting sucked in rather than doing analysis, and I love it. I've bought an entire book just so I could get a copy of "The Events at Poroth Farm".
Is that the Joshi American Supernatural anthology? Because if so, I did that too! (Although it has lots of good stories in, to be fair)
