I figured out that because of the short chapters, its best to divide the discussion sections of this book by ten chapters. This thread contains

I can understand why many have said this is a very disturbing book. It reminds me of the Stephen King book, Misery where the writer is held captive by a fan. The plot is not really like that though. As I read this, I really feel bad for the character of the man as he realizes he is trapped and tries to figure out a way to get out. He tried one of the methods of escape that I thought of. He tried digging his way up to the top. When he failed miserably, I could really feel for him. Now I keep thinking what else he could try. Do you have any ideas of what else he could try? Maybe as you read the book you will find that he tries them! I was thinking he could make something like snow shoes that would work on sand.
