Stef (buch_ratte) | 20 comments Let's not forget Astrid Lindgren. She was one of my favorite authors during childhood. I especially loved the stories about Pippi Longstocking.

message 6: by Alexander (new)

Alexander | 1 comments A childhood filled with Astrid Lindgren most recently it's been mostly Jan Guillou.

Kirstie Peden | 7 comments It's ubiquitous but I thought I'd add it anyways - the Stieg Larsson trilogy.

message 10: by Silver (new)

Silver Let the Right One In byJohn Ajvide Lindqvist was a brillaint work. It was not just a vampire story, but about so much more, dealing with contriversial issues, social problems, and sexuality. A bleak and chilling tale which may be the best vampire story since Dracula.

message 11: by Kath (new)

Kath (catclaw) | 1 comments Any book by Selma Lagerlöf.
"The Saga Of Gösta Berling" is one fine example.
She is a Noble Prize winner of rang.

message 12: by Annalie (new)

Annalie Camilla Läckberg is a Swedish author who has written a series of detective novels (actually, they are more novels than detective stories!). They have been translated into English. I've read the first three and enjoyed them very much. Read them in the correct sequence because some of the stories continue without any explanation of what went before.
