Saria Am I reading it wrong?!!,,on twitter EL James mentioned it's official that Dakota Johnson play as Anastasia Steel and Charlie Hunnman as Christian Grey???
I'm really sorry folks,,but I doubt that I want to watch the Movie.
( I'm crying out loud here T_T )

message 2: by BEE (new) - rated it 3 stars

BEE I saw it on the news

http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/m...

not my first choice though me think charlie is hot, i hope they can pull it off

Saria soon after the announcement, all of the google pages was loaded with their pics.Perhaps I'm going to watch the Movie anyway,,on curiosity. Beside Charlie Hunnman was okay on Pacifim Rim..
But still cant get the disappointment out of me :(

Hannah I said this just before I think Charlie will be great I think he'll slim down but get real lean and clean shaven I think he'll do when not sure about Dakota only because I don't know anything about her but I hope they do well

Saria Dakota is the one that play Ben/Kate..but she played as a single mother there. While Anastasia, well..Anastasia is a Virgin.. :p
Yeahh..maybe I'm taking it too seriously,,
Hope the movie wont ruin the book.

message 6: by Megan (last edited Sep 04, 2013 07:52AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Megan The girl is okay, the guy is a nah. Maybe since he's blonde? But they can dye his hair brown or reddish like Christian. Also this chick looks really old to be Ana (just looked her up though and she is early 20s). Okay choices I think fans on here picked better people.

I'm over the 50 craze, I'm waiting for Netflix.

Also lol@ Saria since she played a single mom in a movie you can't imagine her as a virgin in this one?

Karen Pretty sure that since the book was absolutely AWFUL that the movie can't possibly ruin it.

~*~Princess Nhya~*~ I'm thinkin the movie may actually be good, if the screen writers & actors & basically everyone involved brings 100% to the film. But honestly its not something I'm panting with anticipation to see. I'm sure if I ever do see it, it will be after it's left the theaters & have been playin nonstop on cable.

Jessica Karen wrote: "Pretty sure that since the book was absolutely AWFUL that the movie can't possibly ruin it."

I feel you on that one. They can't have the sex scenes in as much detail as the book....and since there was not actual plot to the books there won't be much of a movie.

Chardigin Albutra i was shocked when I read the news about the official cast of fifty shades T.T i thought it was michael boomer but its not :'( i'm excited to watch the movie before but now hmmm..still confused :( still holding for the trailer for me to decide.

Chardigin Albutra Hunnam is too old for the role of Christian Grey. lol. haha. compared to Matt Boomer....

Joanne Who even wants to see a movie of this? Really, the books were so boring - even the sex was dull. It could all have been wrapped up in one Harlequin Romance paperback, and now they're making a movie? For whom? Waste of time.

message 13: by Joana (new) - added it

Joana I also am not at all pleased with the choice of these actors. A Christian too different than I imagined, and I think Dakota is a very poor choice.
I think due to the controversy of the book, and the scenes that will be required to do many good actors and actresses do not want to do it.
As has already been said, I also do not spend money on a ticket to the cinema.

OMG , I cannot believe whom have been selected to play Christian Grey and Anastasia, totally killed any thoughts of me wanting to watch these movies, sorry gang but there is not enough behind the scenes make up etc to make these two look Hot enough to pull the characters off like the book , OMG what was E L James thinking. I am shocked, especially after all the hot blooded actors that where keen to play Christian Grey's role.

message 15: by Lucy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lucy Lopez So disappointed, they should change the title of the movie, 50 Shades of Stupid!

message 16: by Elyse (last edited Sep 03, 2013 05:16PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Elyse Walters *Julie*: Agree! These were the best two actors they could find? (maybe its a 'low' -low- 'low' budget film) ---plus many people are 'done with **50 Shades** of everything by now anyway!

The book had its run-(we 'woman' who read the books had our fun) ---we did our chatting with each other --we had our connections...

This film already looks like a joke/let-down--

The two actors needed to be MELTING HOT to get us interested AGAIN in a **50 Shades** marathon run-- but these two leading actors are AVERAGE ---
LACKING STEAMY-body-sensation-erotic feelings ---
so what's the point???

The book was filled with fantasy --(passion to boot)

This type of movie calls for EXTREME HOT SEXY visuals --

Missed the boat already --(with their casting)

message 17: by Alys (new) - rated it 1 star

Alys Marchand A few months back a rep from Universal said that these movies will be NC-17, so explicit sex. I wonder if they will really do it for those scenes, or use computer animation.

Leslie Chardigin wrote: "Hunnam is too old for the role of Christian Grey. lol. haha. compared to Matt Boomer...."

Charlie Hunnam is 33. Matt Bomer is 35. Matt is older.

I'm disappointed that Charlie Hunnam is playing this role simply because he's too talented to. I'm a huge huge fan of Sons of Anarchy and this guy is a brilliant actor. He can do better than play a kind of creepy dude in a semi-porn movie.

Joanne I m still team IAN SOMERHALDER...lol... =D
but also excited to see the chosen cast in the big screen
who knows I might be surprise that they can really nail the role...

message 20: by Itsmebacshi (last edited Sep 03, 2013 10:42PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Itsmebacshi Christian Grey is Handsome, tall, muscular, and broad-shouldered, look young and fresh while
Anastasia Steele is Pretty, shy, pale and innocent meaning..... they doest fit the role so i wont waste my money just to watch it on big screen. it will just ruin the image of Grey and Steele..

still prefer Matt Bomer or Ian Somerhalder

Leslie wrote: " Charlie Hunnam is 33. Matt Bomer is 35. Matt is older."

yes Matt is older but he looks younger than Charlie

Chardigin Albutra @Leslie
hahah.lol.yeah matt bomer is older than hunnam based on their age but based on their faces hunnam is older than bomer . lol :)

I'll still watch it ^_^

Good one! Ian is mysteriously sexy!

Guess I am the only one is very happy to see that Charlie will be playing Grey. I think he's excellent for the job! He's got the sexy, sort of badboy look and he's just pretty damn hot. Don't know the girl though... hope she will do a good job.

Book was crap, by the way. Really... the worst useless hours I ever spent on reading a book.

message 23: by Saria (last edited Sep 04, 2013 12:58AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Saria @ Megan, LOL at me too >_< truly I cannot imagine that..
@Lucy, yeahh agree with you. they should change it to 50 shades of stupid.

Even though on twitter they're backing up the writer, and the cast choices. Haven't they noticed that almost the entire population is declining Dakota and Charlie.

Rajeshree Vejasegaran i am disappointed as much as you people too but i think i'm okay with the actress. i just don't like Charlie Hunnman to be chosen to play as christian grey. i just can't imagine. T_T

Miss Cole Let me start by saying that in my opinion, there should be no movie. I think it is going to ruin the fantasy. I think all of us who have read and love the books have imagined our own versions of Christian and Ana.

I don't care for the casting choices at all. Charlie Hunnam is no Christian Grey. Don't get me wrong. He is sexy. He's just not pretty enough to be Christian. I could have a tainted view because I love him as bad boy Jax Teller on SOA. Don't even get me started on Dakota Johnson. She's all wrong. She is not how I pictured Ana.

I think what happened is that there were a lot of actors and actresses who turned the roles down and this is what we are left with. I will not be seeing the movie. I have my version of Christian and Ana in my mind and that is where they will stay.

message 26: by Jnv (new) - rated it 2 stars

Jnv At first I was like wtf about Charlie, but then I googled him and when he is clean shaven with short hair he is MUCH better looking. I can definitely see him as Christian, he is way hot when he doesn't look like a bear

Dakota, on the other hand, is definitely not Ana. I'm not trying to be mean but her face is simply not pretty. Like...at all. Also, I heard she has tons of family connections in Hollywood so I'm not terribly impressed. I think that's how she got the role because she is definitely not pretty enough to be Ana.

I'll wait until its out on Netflix...

Katie Matt Bomer is a good choice and all, but let's be real here. Who would be able to take it serious with a gay man playing that kind of role? I'd laugh the whole time knowing he's probably vomiting in his mouth having to touch a female. I'm not against gays at all, I just wouldn't be able to take it serious.

I can't picture Matt Bomer in this role at all. Not because he's gay but because he has too much if a nice guy demeanor. Of course I also don't see Ian somerhalder in this roll either. I just can't see it at all. I always pictured Christian Bale because he has that attitude about him. More so than the others.

❤️Melanie G.📖💛 Charlie cleans up really nicely. He should be able to carry his own as the Chrisitan Gray.

Angélica Simancas Both of them are disgusting, sorry!

Leslie Angélica wrote: "Both of them are disgusting, sorry!"

Well that was unnecessarily harsh. Not liking actors for a role doesn't mean that they are disgusting.

Joseph Rouhana Karen wrote: "Pretty sure that since the book was absolutely AWFUL that the movie can't possibly ruin it." I feel the same way. Maybe the movie will be better than the books.

Katie Leslie wrote: "Katie wrote: "Matt Bomer is a good choice and all, but let's be real here. Who would be able to take it serious with a gay man playing that kind of role? I'd laugh the whole time knowing he's proba..."

I didn't see him in role either. Christian Bale is a good choice, but I think he might be too old for the role. Charlie is a sexy man and I have faith he can do the job!

Nichole I'll watch the movie when it's free to see, but definitely not paying money to see it. Either way, not my pick of actors, but they're kinda growing on me. I think Dakota is promising if they dye her hair a darker color; it'll give her a mysterious appeal. Plus, Anatasia is suppose to have brown hair anyway. Charlie could totally pull off Christian if he ends up looking like those photos of him in a suit with short hair. BUT definitely not if he looks like the 35 year old with long shaggy hair he's sporting in most the pictures i've been seeing.

Leslie nichole he lopks scruffy in most pictures because of a tv show he is in about a motorcycle club.

message 37: by Naya (new) - rated it 3 stars

Naya I honestly don't mind Charlie at all. Have you guys even heard his voice in Sons of Anarchy? That alone is enough for me to support him in the role of Christian. He will definitely scrub up nicely! Give him a haircut, throw a suit on him and he will be good to go.

I'm not completely sold on Dakota, she just isn't anything like I imagined Ana to be like. But I can sort of see the whole Kristen Stewart look-a-like appeal to her. So, no judgements. I hope she is just talented enough to go from meek inexperienced Ana, to courageous and defiant Ana.

Hannah This bugs me only because it happens almost every time! People don't like a casting choice based on the persons current looks not the acting or what they could morph themselves into. It happened with Robert pattinson and Jamie Campbell bower for eg and now these two actors. I can see them as Anna and Christian if they dedicate themselves to the movie which I'm sure they will!

Christelle Tabet The books are really bad, I don't think the movie will be worse. I like Charlie Hunnam he's very handsome and yea I can imagine him as Christian but Dakota! I don't know, I think she's a good choice to play Kate but not Anastasia. I saw a couple of episodes of Ben&Kate she's lovely but doesn't look like an Ana for me. I have a feeling the movie won't be as bad as expected, it will certainly be better than the book but anyway it's not a movie I'm excited for.

Angela i was kinda rooting for matt and alexis.. but anyway..
I'm still excited for the movie! helll yeah! Fifty Shades in the flesh...

Kelli Jean Although neither were my first choice to play these characters, I'll totally give them a shot. I love Hunnam in SOA, he's gorgeous! But I do remember being devastated that Tom Cruise (really can't stand him) was playing Lestat in Interview With a Vampire, and he ended up being perfect (if not seriously too short for the role). I've never seen Dakota Johnson in anything, and don't think she looks right, but you never know. These guys just might pull it off!

Sylvie Ana was sort of a nonentity as a character for me, so I don't much care who plays her. As for Charlie Hunnam, if they ever make a biopic of Steve McQueen, he'd be a shoe-in for the role. As Christian Grey, however, I guess we'll see, won't we?

message 43: by Replicant Rachel (last edited Sep 05, 2013 01:58PM) (new)

Replicant Rachel Charlie shaved looks more like Christian than not shaved, he has the body for the role too and looks young, i approve, not my first choice but i'm sure the casting team saw something in him that matches Christian's peorsonna...as for Dakota, yeh there are so MANY MANY more attractive brunettes with blue eyes out there that i think match Anna's looks, but nothing a hair dye and some great acting can't fix,i never really heard of any of them before, even if i have seen them, the director choice surprised me when it came out, anyway i have to admit i'm a bit curious now about how this movie is gonna pan out, i think we will definitely be surprised...

Cecilia I'm heartbroken over Matt Boomer not play CG... and Alexis Bledel as Ana. i really think they would have been perfect to play it.. (its tempting not to watch the movie when it comes out cause of the cast.) but on the flip side I love the story...

Elyse Walters Matt Boomer 'for sure'!!!!!!!!!!!

message 46: by Replicant Rachel (new)

Replicant Rachel Bomer not Boomer ..unless it's an inside joke? :P

Casting is a difficult process and I hope that the two of them have at least an out of space chemistry. On the other hand, I think that the producers will only benefit from the actors low popularity; they will have a blank page to create the characters. I will be watching for sure.

Elyse Walters I don't think these actors (or any actors who would have been cast in THIS film have a 'blank canvas' to create from...

From the 'minute' it was announced that this book was going to be made into a film...
EVERY actor being considered 'lost' their "blank page" with the public.

People have been more interested -invested-involved-watching -waiting-observing-judging- 'every & any' possible actor for these roles.

Now that the casting is confirmed --
The 'blank page' has ended...

Just look at all the 'already' opinions about these two actors we have now?
Its not easy to change people's first impressions --(we --NONE actors -- can be harsh)....lol we want a PERFECT FANTASY! lol

but I like your optimism 'Selina'....(I bet the Producers hope the public will agree with you)!

As far as looks Dakota looks good, she just needs to dye her hair, but Charlie... just no. All wrong. But maybe they will surprise us?
