Did you like the first 2 books? I liked the 2nd book much more than the 1st book. I listened to it and I liked the characters more.

I was the other way around and preferred the first book in the series but i am willing to keep on going, I am intrigued by Cole but Sam and Grace annoyed me in the second book.

I was surprised that the cop ends up being their hero. It seems to be too perfect that he owns a large parcel of undeveloped land that he's willing to donate to the wolves' cause. How is he going to pay the property taxes on the land?

I also wondered about how Cole was able to conduct his experiements and develop his serum without a lab and any sort of formal equipment or training.

I am anxious about Isabelle's father's impending wolf hunt. And it was sad about Olivia. Isabelle's reaction in the Italian restaurant, missing Jack, was very realistic. (hide spoiler)]

Finished: (view spoiler)[I am very disappointed with the end. I think it is a cheat to leave your fans of 3 books dangling without a true resolution to the story. I'm not a huge fan of cliffhangers (who is?) in a mid-series book, but I despise them in the conclusion of a series. I'm more sympathetic in a standalone book, because it gives them the option for a sequel.

I thought Sam slowly losing his objectives as a wolf was extremely well done. I did enjoy Sam and Grace in love as wolves. It was sweet and short (I think it would've gotten old over a prolonged number of pages).

The wolf hunt was tragic. I would've liked to know who died. I was surprised that the wolves didn't turn into people in death. That would've been an interesting complication for Culpepper to have hunted and killed humans in his little wolf hunt.

Chapter 1-19
I again always doubt whether or not this will be a good book or not and then I start reading it and I think it's Maggie Stiefvater's writing that sucks me in. The way she tells a story is really incredible.

Grace was turned into a wolf in the last book and Sam and Cole have yet to hear from her. In the start of the book a young girl was killed by a wolf or wolves (I can't remember) I was thinking it could be Grace or Grace is the one who did the killing while in wolf form. I guess we will find out as the book progresses.

Grace did go back in human form and found a gas station, after stealing a dress off a clothing line, and she called Sam but when he got there he found a dress on the ground headed back into the woods. He was to late. By chapter 19 Sam still hasn't seen Grace.

Cole looked as though he tried to kill himself but he might be experimenting with a cure for controlling the shift. Again we will see. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 20-34

I love this book as much as I loved the last 2. I think I might be in the minority but I'm good with that. I read to be entertained and this series does that for me.

So the girl that was killed in the beginning is Olivia and now to wait and see if it was Grace while in wolf form or who it may have been. I truly believe it was Shelby. She's a wolf that was mentally unstable as a human and she is just as unstable as a wolf. In this set of chapters Grace almost dies and Sam tries to rescue her and fails and is now stuck too and Cole is the hero. Isabel's dad is trying to make all the wolves extinct by launching an aerial attack with sharpshooters flown in helicopters and taking out all the wolves in Mercy Falls.

Sam and Grace finally see each other and it's really sweet (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 35-61

I still feel so bad for Sam. He barely gets Grace back and then the night she gets to stay she shifts again and he has to lock her in his bathroom until she is human again and can open the door.

Grace shifted and Sam put her in the bathroom until she went back to human form. At work the police came and took him for questioning in the death of Olivia and the disappearance of Grace. The town was starting to not trust him and rumors were flying. Meanwhile Isabel's dad is launching an attack on the wolves from a helicopter with sharpshooters and it's happening in 2 weeks. Cole is working on a cure to turn Beck back into human form so he and Sam can get answers. The last sentence of chapter 61 is letting Sam know that the attack on the wolves was moved from 2 weeks to that morning at dawn and Grace and unexpectedly shifted and would be caught in the attack. Also Cole was able to force a shift on Beck and it had allowed some Q & A and closure for some. It was so sweet the bond Beck and Sam shared. Beck was Sam's everything he was his dad. Chapter 62-the end (chapter 78)

I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first 2 books. Not sure what the next book is about or who it follows but I plan on reading it too.

the attack is launched. Isabel decides to make a stand against her father because Sam and Grace and even Cole are at stake and she must try to protect them from getting shot. Cole is able to gt Sam to shift again and Sam is able to gather the entire pack and get them to move from Boundary Woods to a better safer property. The end was heart stopping and so sad. I think I held my breath from start to go. I learned to love Isabel and even Cole. Sam and Grace had a bond I enjoyed reading about. The parents you wanted to smack upside the heads but over all the story was great. (hide spoiler)]
