Thanks Mandy & Holli! Feel like I'm slowing down some and just haven't been able to really 'get into' a book lately. Could it be I'm tired of sitting in this house reading? haha105. Seventeen Ways to Eat a Mango A Discovered Journal of Life on an Island of Miracles by Joshua Kadison....just a touching little story!
Congrats on making your goal! I had started the year hoping to hit 50 and am now at 99 with 4 books in progress. I've probably done 15 or so on CD so I feel a little like I'm cheating but at the rate I'm reading this month, I'll have that made up. Have you got a new goal now that you've passed 100?
106. Give It Up! My Year of Learning to Live Better with Less by Mary CarlomagnoLisa, No, no new goal! I just want to read some of the books on my bookshelf! But...I just keep getting more from the library and more to add to my shelves! The last book I read shown above, had the following quote:
"Most book lovers are the same way; the more they read, the more they want to add to their collection."
Isn't that the truth??
107. Traveling Mercies Some Thoughts on Faith by Anne Lamott108. The Fixer Upper A Novel by Mary Kay Andrews
109. One Small Boat The Story of a Little Girl, Lost Then Found by Kathy Harrison110. The Lace Makers of Glenmara by Heather Barbieri.....wonderful book!!
Thanks Brenda! See what this really means is....I have no other life! haha111. Fatal Fixer-Upper by Jennie Bentley....really enjoyed this cozy mystery and look forward to reading the next in this series!
112. Forever Lily An Unexpected Mother's Journey to Adoption in China by Beth Nonte Russell....the descriptions of conditions in the Chinese orphanages just broke my heart.
Take a look at my review Tanja...there were parts that were weird, but all in all I enjoyed learning about some of the things that they went through adopting a child from China; and like I said it is haunting.
Cindy wrote: "113. The Way Life Should Be by Christina Baker Kline....really enjoyed this one and recommend it!"Thank you for the recommendation Cindy. I have added it to my TBR pile, which seems to be growing and growing.
The Way Life Should Be looks like it will be a good one. I will try to get that one next. Thanks for the info!
114. Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb....really enjoyed this once I got into it. Looking forward to reading more by this author.115. Such a Pretty Fat One Narcissist's Quest to Discover if Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big, or Why Pie is Not the Answer by Jen Lancaster....a laugh out loud funny book. Look forward to reading more by this author!
117. Local Knowledge by Liza Gyllenhaal...still unsure about this one. I just didn't relate to any of the characters very much. I think that was my problem. It was an interesting story with many twists though and I'm anxious to see what others think!
119. The Laws of Harmony A Novel by Judith R. Hendricks....this was a really good book that I recommend!
120. Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger....I was disappointed in this book and really glad I didn't splurge and pay full price for it.
Cindy what made you choose Hondo. I picked it up myself a while back just was intrested, is it good? I do love Louie L.
Rebecca, I am one of the few with only a cassette player in my car, so the tapes that I can check out at the library are limited. I listen to books on tape during my commute. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed this story!!
123. Whistlin' Dixie in a Nor'easter by Lisa Patton....enjoyed this 'Southern girl transplanted to Vermont' as a fun, light, and just a little silly book.
124. After You A Novel by Julie Buxbaum....a great book! Maybe not the most light-hearted kind of book to read at this time of year, but I definitely recommend it!
A lot of neat information! I found a recipe for Sourdough Starter, pictures of different stitches, salsa recipes.... I think you'd enjoy it!
Well, it's 11:50 on Dec 31st, 2009 and 2010 will be here in moments! I am ending the year with 125 books read which exceeded my goal of 100. I have read so many great books this year! My 5 star reads include:The Girl She Used to Be
