How do you feel about a book after the movie has been made?
Which do you prefer?
Give some samples of good ones or not-so-good ones.

How do the children feel about them?
Matilda, The Outsiders, Jumanji, Harry Potter, The polar Express, Pinocchio... Add to this list.
See how far back you can go.

The Outsiders
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Melinda (westmetromommy) Honestly, I can't think of a single movie adaptation that lives up or surpasses the book. Oh, wait, yes...I can think of one..."The Wizard of Oz."

Anyway, I try to make an effort to read the books to the kids before they see the movies. I'm not a fan of Disney adaptations--although our relatives make sure our kids get more than enough Disney.

So true... Oh well, relatives make for some great memories.
