This year it has been 200 years since Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice was published. Granted it was not her fist novel but it is one of her most known and most read novels. She has been a very influential author and even today her works are read by many and new adaptations appear every year. So to commemorate this author here is a challenge about her and her books.

The challenge will run from 1 September 2013 until 31 December 2013. I know that doesn't give us much preparation time, but we are professional readers so we don't need time to think of books. :)

Since Jane's work doesn't appeal to everyone I will try to keep the tasks as generic as possible.
The Tasks:
1) Read a book that has a title that uses alliteration. (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibilty)
2) Read a book that contains a name of a building, mansion or estate not a city (Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey)
3) Read a book that was published posthumously (Northanger Abbey, Persuasion)
4) Read a book/manuscript that was unfinished (Lady Susan, Sanditon, The Watsons). The unfinished work most have at least 75 pages.
5) Read a book in which siblings play a huge part (all of them)
6) Read a book set in the country. (all of them)
7) Read a novel by an author who only published either 4 or 6 novels.
8) Read a book by an author who never married.
9) Read a book based on one of the works of Jane Austen.
10) Read a second published work of any author. (Pride and Prejudice was Jane's second published book)

Of course you may read any and all of Jane's books to use in this challenge.

Good Luck!

Absolutely. Several of her books are partially set in Bath. Are there any visible reminders of that in Bath?

For nr 2 - Does it have to be the official name of the place? Does it have to a be a real building in real life? In a book I just read, there is an estate that the character calls Ghost Town and plays a big part as the book is called Notes from Ghost Town.

Well there is the Jane Austen Centre which carries all her books, has a museum and lots of "I love Mr Darcy" and other merchandise ...

And a wonderful Jane Austen Festival which started on the 13th of September ... See link below
