Kate (rabellu) | 60 comments Hello!

I have problem with one book i own and wanted to add. Book have 2 isbn and two publishers. It's second, enlarged edition.
I'm not sure how to add this book in goodreads.

Here's info on WorldCat:
http://www.worldcat.org/title/poetyka...

I have 2 isbns on my edition:
8373262547
and
8388731548

I'll be glad for any explanation :)

Banjomike | 5530 comments I had a book with two ISBNs (and one publisher). It turned out that the hardback and paperback editions had exactly the same set of printed pages, only the binding was changed.

It could be that the two publishers on your book are different imprints (divisions) of the same publisher, one of which specialises in hardback the other in paperback (like Random House and Penguin mostly do).

I found a reference to the ISBNs of your book as "8373262547 (UG) 8388731548 (PAP)". PAP might be paperback but what UG is I don't know.

Kate (rabellu) | 60 comments Hmm the "problem" is that i have physical copy of this book, and it's paperback, and at the back of this book are 2 isbn's like each for other publisher.

UG and PAP are publishers - UG - "Uniwersytet Gdanski", and PAP like "Pomorska Akademia Pedagogiczna". But in book it's "Wydawnictwo Polskiej Akademii Pedagogicznej". So only "PAP" is wrong in my opinion :)

And I'm not sure.... add two books, with proper isbn and publisher, or add one book ... but what isbn and publisher choose? Anyway none of these informations will be truth, becouse it's still one book edition :)

I hope someone had same problem, and might read this thread :)

Empress (the_empress) Is it possible those ISBN numbers are simply reused. Is there another number as well?

Is this the one you own?

Anyway for adding I would suggest TWO editions. The two editions from your wroldcat URL. [they always list all isbn numbers of the different editions on one page].

Kate (rabellu) | 60 comments I think that this might have something with merging two books. Like merging 2 books in 2 chapters in one book.

Here's back cover of it:

each logo is different publisher.

It's first time i see such book, so I'm confused how to add it;)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 359 comments Does it have an interior copyright page?

Yes, there are two ISBNs as well.

Well, so much for that idea, sometimes it has better/more information as compared to the book covers.

Yeah! It's also strange, becouse in interior page with book title - there are two publishers, and year of publishing.

And in another one interior [with Editors, Corections, etc] there is copyright information only for one publisher like Uniwersytet Gdanski. But as I said earlier - two ISBNs ;/

Empress (the_empress) Can you find if there are other editions associated with those two numbers?
If so you can add one edition for each of them, and a third one for the edition you own, without adding an ISBN number [if it doesn't have one] and a note explaining the two ISBN issue with a link to this topic.
