If you ever wondered what a 21st century nullification crisis would look like, look no further than Missouri. One hundred and forty eight years after the end of the Civil War, the New York Times reports, "the Republican-controlled Missouri legislature is expected to enact a statute next month nullifying all federal gun laws in the state and making it a crime for federal agents to enforce them." Meanwhile, the Show Me State is doing everything it can to effectively block implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

My brilliant state, at it again.

Robert Zwilling Is there really that much difference between the state pot laws and this?

Frank Klus (ftklus) Now imagine what's going on in Missouri would be going on in the whole country. Federal laws muted. The Constitution shredded. Corporatists like the insurance companies running the country. Dystopia. It's not so far fetched. Read "Take the Pilgrim Road" to see what it would be like.

Robert Zwilling This country is already pretty messed up along the lines you mentioned. The corporate world supplies a lot of the people who manage the government, do you really think they don't keep their corporate connections before during and after their government job? With limited finances it is not unusual for local police departments to not enforce laws they don't have the funds to pay for.
