White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book 1 in Dark Elements Series

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Released On: February 25, 2014

YA

message 17: by harshini (new)

harshini (watchmeread) Hmm the cover looks very NA....

message 18: by Richa (new)

Richa (cityofbooks) | 99 comments Jen said this series kind of straddles the line between YA and NA so that's probably why they made the cover like that

message 19: by harshini (new)

harshini (watchmeread) Well that makes sense, looking forward to it then :)

It does make sense... but I still kinda wish that it was more dark and showed the more paranormal side of the book. It still looks like a contemp to me

Agree. I don't really like this cover much tbh. I think Harlequin Teen could have done lots better.

harshini (watchmeread) That too Kay, I thought it was one of her J.Lynn novels for a moment, then was pretty surprised to find out that it was the Gargoyle series

It should look more gothic. I mean it IS gargoyles. I just don't like the covers. And I know when I read it I'm gonna dislike the covers even more. I know they could do better and have it to do with the story more
