Lys (lysrowan) The September-October Reading Challenge was originally billed as an audio book challenge, but I know a lot of people don't listen to audio books or have easy access to them, so I changed it. There will be an option for you audio book lovers though!

This is my favorite time of year, so I thought a scavenger hunt would be fun. It's a season-changing, autmnal hunt. All of the challenge goals pertain to something that can be seen on the book cover. Enjoy!

1. Read a book with leaves on the cover
2. Birds and butterflies begin their migration - read a book with migratory creatures in flight.
3. Read a book with a pumpkin on the cover, or a pumpkin-orange cover
4. Read a book with a scarecrow or a crow on the cover.
5. Read a book with an acorn or bare tree on the cover.
6. Read a book with the word "fall" or "autumn" in the title.
7. Read a book with an autumn food on the cover, good examples include nuts, apples, corn, potatoes, onions, and squash.
8. Read a book with a harvest moon or a hunter's moon on the cover (orangey or reddish coloured).
9. October has both sweetest day and Halloween: Read a book with candy on the cover!
10. Dusk comes earlier - read a book where the cover depicts a twilight scene.
11. September has several popular holidays and observances, from Labor Day to Talk Like a Pirate Day: read a book with a pirate, eyepatch, ship, barbeque/cookout or railroad/tracks on the cover.
12. Oktoberfest shoutout: Read a book with beer, carnival rides, sausage, or lederhosen on the cover.

Challenge Levels:
4 = easy
7 = medium
10 = hard
12 = wow, you must have searched for a while. :)

Audio Autumn:
If the above challenge doesn't suit your fancy, try listening to audio books to spell out one of the following autumnal words:
AUTUMN
FALL
SEPTEMBER
OCTOBER
EQUINOX/ MABON
DUSk
TWILIGHT
ORANGE
GATHER
HARVEST
FRUITION
SAMHAIN
... or one of your own choosing. :)
