Michele | 1154 comments I thought 47 Ronin was going to be based on the actual story, but that looked like some crazy Japanese fantasy. Cool but not what I expected. Keanu though....

Warren | 1556 comments Same here. The librarian was nice enough to
tracked down a translation of the book a while back.
Great story. I wondered how Hollywood would handle it.
Well they kept the name but not much else.
I'll try to keep an open mind.

Pickle | 192 comments 47 Ronin has potential but the other two look awful.

Daran | 599 comments A couple I thought were interesting;

Pompeii
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLfQ9_...

It looks like an Armageddon set in the ancient world. Could be good, if they don't try to go all 300 or Spartacus: War of the Damned on it.

Escape Plan

Yeah I know it's a Stallone movie, but it looks like it has a good story.

Ruth (tilltab) Ashworth | 1861 comments The 47 Ronin trailer made me want to cry. I guess it means we can talk about the 'story' on a sci-fi/fantasy forum now, but...no, I can't be happy about that trailer. Just...why? I mean, really, just don't call it that. I submit the film now be called Keanu's Fantastical Adventures in Japanland. Because if it wasn't called 47 Ronin it would probably look pretty cool, but the name kind of left me expecting...well, the 47 Ronin.

Agree. If they'd base it on the original story they had a shot at an academy award.
(Some acting required)
With this version..........

Looks good, haven't read the book.

Is there a name for that style of movie trailer? You know, the type where there's that deep, dangery sound.

BAAAUUUOOOM.

Then something like, "He was the last of the whatevers."

BAAAUUUOOOM.

People fighting or saying something like, "This is the end."

BAAAUUUOOOM.

Explosions! Dying people, etc.

Then silence...and...

Heroically inspired music plays while big stuff happens!

You know. Like that. I swear I've seen it a million times now. Pretty sure World War Z did it.

It is based on a book- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seventh...
I don't know what they call that style of trailer.
Not that it matters since there seldom a relationship
between the quality of the trailer and the actual movie.

message 14: by Trike (new)

Trike | 8291 comments It's a version of Inception's trailer. It's called "being Incepted."

message 15: by Thane (new)

Thane | 476 comments Aha, thanks guys. It's certainly prevalent these days.
