New Moon = good or bad?

I do think New Moon is exceptionally sad, but I think it was important. If you think about it, if Edward hadn't left, then Bella might have chosen Jacob, because she wouldn't know what he life was like without Edward, and Edward would have never known what it was like to be without Bella. I do cry every time I read this book, but it was still wonderful. It showed Edward and Bella what it was like to be apart and also it put the pressure of the Volturi on their shoulders. I think that New Moon was and exceptional book and the best out of the series.(Quote alert) It is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all. I think that applys to New Moon wonderfully. Does anyone agree with me? Twilight=finding love, New Moon= losing love, Eclipse= choosing love.

Well, yes, in a sense. I don't know if she'd eventually gone for Jacob, though. Maybe.I don't like reading New Moon as much as the other two (SM knows how to write emotion, seriously), but I think it's necessary. It makes the bond between Edward and Bella stronger.
Besides, I love the scenes when they come back together. Beautiful.

They all rock but the best parts of New Moon are when Edward and Bella are together!I don't think Bella would have ever chosen Jacob though, she just loved Edward too much!
I agree that this Edward leaving strengthened Edward and Bella's relationship. this wasn't my fav. out of the series, but i absolutely love the parts when all the vampires come back into the story. I love the vampires way more than the werewolves. no offence to anyone out there, that's just how i feel. I also love the part in new moon when bella cuts herself on the wrapping paper. it's so suspenceful and i love that in books!
I had heard this book wasn't very good as far as the 3 book series went, though I found it excellent. The author really developed all the characters. The love that Edward has for Bella was shown by his desire to not exist without her. The author also expressed Bella's feelings when Edward left in a way that the reader could almost put themselves in her shoes and feel her pain. I also thought it developed (importantly) the character of Jacob Black, since his relationship with Bella becomes crucial in Eclipse. BUT, luckily for us, there is a happy ending. YAY!
I really love this series. But I still think that the first book is the best. New Moon is still really good. My only issue with it was that Bella got a little annoying. I mean, she spent half the book basically whining and missing Edward. But the plot is still really intriguing.

For those of us who've had a broken heart-Stephenie Meyers captured what it physically feels like. It was very painful to read for me, I've experienced pain like that. I've never been able to put into words what broken hearted anguish feels like and I feel like she NAILED it!Team Edward!!!
Though it's true i didn't like the books, I can sypathize with some of your comments. sorry i can't do the same with the books!

Totally!! My favorite chapters in the whole series are "the truth" and "vote", both containing the most beautiful love scenes ever written.
I love all three of the books!! and I'm really not sure what to make of Jacob!? But I would still probably say the first book "Twilight" is the best one all 3 had me engrossed though I couldn't put them down I needed to know what was going to happen next. They are amazing books I have ever read and I think the film is going to be such a disappointment. I can't wait for the next book.
i agree about Twilight=finding love, New Moon= losing love, Eclipse= choosing love. But New Moon was so frustrating to read! I am the biggest Edward fan and Jacob, I mean I wouldnt want him to be gone, but he is just rude and snobish! Bella can't live without Edward and he cant live without her. And I bet, in the next book (Breaking Dawn) Jacob will reveal that he has imprinted on Bella (even though the sugns arent there) but if he doesn't then he can live w/o her and find his love. Jacob=just friend.
Hate Jacob, but he needs to be there. If he wasn't Bella wouldn't have gotten back with Edward sooner. But I do agree, that he is rude and a big loser-face! Jacob and Bella=JUST FRIENDS!!!!
I think that if Edward never came back and they were never back together, I think Bella would have eventually chosen Jacob but only because that would make her feel connected to Edward for as long as she was alive. She would definitely hear the voices (hanging around werewolves is dangerous) and she would always know that Edward wasn't just a dream. Jacob would not be a substitute....he would be a connection.
well but the thing is Jacob is gone, if I read correctly. In the Epilogue of Eclipse, he decides to stay in his wolf-spirit form and never coming back. I totally agree that Jacob was just meant to be a friend, but you know the quote that ticks me off the most? It's where Jake is like "I am the air to you Bella and he is a DRUG!!!! I would have been healthier but NOO UR AN ADDICT" and i'm like JERK! bella is IN LOVE, not STONED. i'm kinda glad he's gone.
For me, Twilight was definitely the best. I loved their falling-in-love scenes, and I just liked the way it was written. It was so fresh, delicious, and surprising. The first time I read New Moon, I'll admit I was bitterly disappointed. Edward leave??? Great Steph you just screwed the whole thing up! It was also unbearably boring until like the last 5 chapters. I remember my friend telling me that in the third chapter something terrible happened. But I never could have imagined that Edward would leave. But after I read it like the millionth time, I realized how important those chapters are. They illustrate just how unable Bella is to live w/o her other half, i.e. Edward. They also show where Jacob falls in love, which is helpful because in Eclipse Jacob is suddenly kissing her (URRRGGGGHH I CANNOT SAY HOW PISSED I WAS WHEN I READ THAT). So in the end I really love New Moon, because it makes the series that much stronger.
One thing that's clear to me after I read New Moon is that Jacob Black is EVIL! At first, in twilight, I thought he'd be the one helping Bella out in some ways even though he is a werewolf. But I'm returning everything good that I said about that dog and replacing it with bad curses!!Edward will always rule Bella's world, and of course our worlds. =D
totally agree. Jacob deserves to be beheaded. I was extremely upset when Edward decided not to murder him. Ya in twilight he seemed so innocent, and back then we could even afford to feel sorry for him!! not now. I was in physical pain when Steph went on for like 5 pages about them kissing. She could've handled that one better.
Don't you think Edward got him back with the talk in the tent with Jacob listening. That's a far better burn than physical violence (except of course death because then you're dead!).
omg! Jodie, I agree! when i got to the part in Eclipse when Jacob kissed her (while they were getting prepared for the battle), OMG I WANTED TO THROUGH THE BOOK AT MY WALL! how could Bella even say that she liked it and that she was encouraging him!! ugh!!! gross!!!!! but 4 the sake of Bella and Edward, I continued, and thank God I did!!! another part i didn't like was when she went to see Jacob at his house, towards the end, and they were talking about how they loved each other and what the worst part was, I was like, "Dude, Bella, you have the most amazing guy/vampire in the world! There's NO way Jacob could replace him, ever! So get out of his damn room and never go back!!!!"
Oh my god! I so agree I wish someone would just shoot Jacob in the head and be done with it. I also think it would be funny if someone pushed him in front of a moving car, wouldnt kill him but it would be hilarious. Wow I have some serious problems. Anyway yeah maybe she wouldn't choose Jake but the book was tremendously sad and heartbreaking yet beautiful!
I have a countdown to the movie. Its March first and the movie comes out on December 12th so 257 more days. If you go on stephaniemeyer.com you can see pictures of the people who are playing the Cullens and the Hales. Rosalie and Alice are cast perfectly!
OK i loved Edward and i got really annoyed by Jacob but i thought that scene was TOTALLY perfect...on second thought i didn't like it.........

Edward would need like some major... retouching for the movie. I don't get how they are going to do the meadow part. How is he supposed to glitter? Anyway New Moon rocks. If it can make me cry (I started laughing during Bridge to Terebithia. Yeah I know.) then it is good. Alot of things used to make me cry when I was younger, but now like nothing can make me cry, only New Moon, Romeo and Juliet and Titanic.

Why did you even comment if you hate the series?! It is just strange! I don't mean to flame, but I think that is just a silly idea! Own opinion! You can hate it if you want to, but that is like going onto a website about Wicked Lovely and writing in the forums that you hate the book Wicked Lovely!
When I read twilight, I wanted to go up to Forks Washington and shoot the entire werewolf pack in the head and Jacob twice. Then I realized the story wasn't true. There goes that plan. *makes puppy noise and sits in the corner*
Yeah I was, I was just wondering, because do you understand it? I just want to know. The Wicked Lovely thing was from personal experience. A boy went on the Wicked Lovely fan site and wrote that he hated the book Wicked Lovely. Another boy did that on Kidzworld. See my theory is if you hate a book don't tell people who love said book, because that may get...painful.
if you really hated the book, you wouldn't have come on here in the first place
i think that new moon is a really good book but not as good as the first and the thrid. the begining of new moon and the ending are fantastic, but the middle sucks. i HATE JACOB BLACK!!!!! he would be a good friend he just annoyis me lol BEST BOOKS EVER

Well I don't know if this is a free discussion and if I'm supossed to ask before I post sorry ya'll, but I read all these terrible thing about Jacob and I just HAD to defend him. Come on guys! Jake is so SWEET. Sure he's not right for her but don't HATE him just 'cause he comes between them! He just thinks he's in love!! I really really like Jacob Black. Though Edward is sooo great and I completely LOVE his character I ADORE Jake too! It's got to be Terrible to love Bella and her not love you back. All in all I'm happy with the ending in BD and VERY happy Jake got his happy ending and was not left just hanging there. I'm glad Edward and Bella ended up together! I'm just HAPPY!!
Oh and just for the record, though Cederic Diggory was cute, I dont like what they've done to his hair in Twilight, I mean come on- He looks like a PORCIPINE!!
And he's not the way I imagined Edward, but he is cute!!
i think that Cedric looks better in the movie twilight then he did in Harry Potter, and i like Jacob a little bit, but he is just so annoying! although i am glad that he found someone to love and that everything was able to work out
i know!!! Robert Pattinson is way not cute enough to be edward i mean i didnt even find him cute in any of the Haryy Potter movies.But i dont think there is anyone out there HOT enough to play Edward. Its hard to find a perfect actor.

i know everyone at my school whos read the book is extremly obsessed.it accualy kinda funny cause the closer we get to the showing of the movie the more your seeing "Team Edward" shirts or "Team Jacob" or the twilight jackets that say "I dream about being with you forever" and even Robert Pattinson pins and when u walk down the hallway u can hear people talking about the book/movie about how Edward is so hot and the cast is all wrong or all right. it kinda makes me laugh to think that just one book (even though its like 500 pgs) can have everyone obbsessed and addicted. and im totaly one of them too, i think the book capteres anyone who reads it
you know i do think that they didnt do edward justice.
Ok I know what I said about Rob Pattinson not being cute enough to play Edward but I just saw a poser of him (as Edward) and he is C-U-T-E, cute!
His eyes are just like they are in the book, liquid gold.
