South Shore Readers discussion
South Shore Events

Due to my crazy work schedule, any sort of group meetup probably won't happen until mid to late March.
Would anyone be interested in setting up a casual South Shore area book club? It could meet in a relaxed setting maybe once a month.
We could probably initially meet at some coffee shop or someplace along those lines (a Panera, the coffee area in a book store, a Starbucks, a little cafe somewhere). I guess we can see who has interest and pick a convenient location for those who express initial interest.
So far (by looking at profiles) that's 2 Weymouths and an Abington. :)
What days/times work best for people?
For me, Mon-Thursday after 6:30 or weekend days work best.

I have class on Mondays but that ends June 9th (thank God!) once that's over I'm free most evenings around 7:00, weekends could potentially work too. I'm really excited for this!

I've been in a few book clubs. Generaly, at the initial meeting people just introduce themselves and talk about what they usually read.
Its also usually a good idea to set up some ground rules around book selection, meeting times, location selection etc.
Then of course, we would pick our first book. so everyone bring ideas!
How does 6:30 or 7 PM Wednesday June 18th or Thursday June 19th work for people?
Maybe we could meet in the Cafe area in the Borders at Exit 17 in Braintree? Or the cafe area of the barnes & nobles in Braintree by the mall or in Hingham @ Derby street.

yay! so let's aim for Thursday June 19th @ 7 PM at the Border's in Braintree by Exit 17. We can meet in the cafe area. and then if we need inspiration to pick out our first book we can stroll through the store.
We can come up with some way of IDing eachother (like placing a specified object on the table)

I've created a goodreads event for it. (Scroll down a bit on the group page and you should see it there)
I will send a private message to those who indicated that they are or might be coming to let you know my cell #.
I will also bring a little pink pig with me to put on the table so people can find us easier. (and so everyone else in the bookstore will think I am a nutjob!)

If anyone new plans on attending tomorrow night, we will be in the cafe area of the bookstore and I will stand up a paperback copy of the book on the table so that you can find us. Hope to see you there!
Thanks, Jessica, for inviting me to join your group. How exciting to discover other South Shore readers on Good Reads. I've been a lifelong resident of Marshfield -- minus a few years spent here and there.
If any of you are interested, I'll be having my book launch on August 12 at Buttonwood Books in Cohasset at 7:00 pm. My novel, Tethered, is being published by Random House and was just chosen for the Borders Original Voices Program. It even has a local setting, Whitman and Brockton, and almost Scituate (I moved Kennedy Country Gardens to Whitman; do any of you know the blue macaw from there?).
If you can make it, I'd love to see some friendly faces in the crowd. If not, perhaps you can come to another event (I'll be updating my web site this week with new events: www.amymackinnon.com).
Thanks again, Jessica!

Would anyone be interested in a casual get together for this group some time? Just to meet other book lovers/goodreads-fanatics and chat and have coffee.
