Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1185 comments I hope this goes into "marketing" - if not, Steph, feel free to move it! :)
I've seen on Facebook just now that Mark Coker has published a blog post about Smashwords Interviews:
http://blog.smashwords.com/2013/08/sm...
I will have to study it all, since I have a publisher status (and 3 pen-names), but probably I can do the interview for all 3 of my pseudonyms?
See, I was wondering what to do with my week off DayJob next week, LOL!
Anyone going to try this? If you do, please share - I will do the same as soon as I manage to do it! :)

Ubiquitous Bubba (ubiquitousbubba) | 413 comments This looks pretty interesting. I think it's a great idea. Since I'm utterly and completely fascinated by myself, I'm definately going to do it! ;)

I especially like the feature that lets us create our own questions. How cool is that?

message 3: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1185 comments I have compiled the interview, but since I have a publisher account, before I make it "live" I want to see what Mark answers to me and the other author/publisher who asked - how do we make the single ghost account pop up? If it must remain a "publisher" interview, I'll need to change or adjust a few questions, LOL!
Lucky who has only one pseudonym... :) Did you do yours, Ubi? Is it live yet?

message 4: by Ubiquitous (new)

Ubiquitous Bubba (ubiquitousbubba) | 413 comments I haven't done mine yet. I've been busy. I hope to get to it soon, though.

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1185 comments Well, Mark agrees that it shouldn't come out as the publisher, but I don't know when we publishers will be able to select a ghost account/author name... we'll see... Maybe I could send it "live" with a few questions changed to fit the "publisher" interview, more than the "author"?

Sharon (fiona64) | 260 comments I set mine up. It's a great tool, IMO. http://www.smashwords.com/interview/f...

Sharon, you have only one name, right? I think it's great too, but if one has more than one name/pseudonym the interview will look like it's to the publisher - not really the same thing...
Great interview, BTW! :)
(BTW, I'm "faving" a lot of people from this group, so if you see a little black unicorn on sky-blue background among your SW "fans", that's me! :D And no, I'm not doing it so you can do the same, but so that I can remember you! And when my TBR pile goes down, it's that list of authors I'm going to check! ;p)

That is a really good point. I wonder whether Mark and Co. will figure out away around that? I imagine it will come down the pike at some point. And thank you!

Try it! :)
My comment on the blog post:

I second Huck Pilgrim - I was wondering myself with a publisher account how we make it a ghost author interview? Doesn't sound right as Unicorn Production (even if it's always me)! :)
Thanks!
Barb

Mark's reply:
Huck and Barb, thanks for the suggestions. Agreed.

I guess we can only wait and see... :)

It's a great idea.

Ubiquitous Bubba (ubiquitousbubba) | 413 comments I just published mine. Here's the link. http://www.smashwords.com/interview/U...

I'm ready for instant fame and popularity now. I've got sunglasses.

Sherri Moorer (sherrithewriter) | 23 comments My Google Alert popped up an article that said it has some bugs that Mark is working out now. I'm going to wait a little while - maybe a week or so while they get it tweaked and fixed - before I dive into the fray.

message 15: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1185 comments the only bugs at the moment are if you have a publisher account. I'm going to try to set my interview so it doesn't "clash" with the fact that it's a publisher and not a single author. I will post it here when I'm done.
Ubi, get ready for the standing ovation - going to read your interview now! :D

Jo Grix | 4 comments I actually added mine today too, I used the auto questions because that made it feel a little more realistic.

And, I read some of the ones above in this thread.
Everything worked great but I've had a few people email me about the small print at the end that says, "Smashwords Interviews are created by the profiled author, publisher or reader." They weren't impressed by what sounds to them like the author asks and answers all their own questions.
I happen to like that feature, and used it(sparingly), but agree it does sound a bit like we're tooting our own horn. Which we are I suppose, but maybe it would be better if that blurb was left off. Maybe? Still, the author interview is a great addition for Smashwords.

message 19: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1185 comments Bruce, please post this comment on the Smashwords post - Mark needs to know! He is asking for feedback, so do it! I have posted what happened with a publisher account (no books because they're linked to ghost accounts that I can't choose from the interview page and the username instead of the publishing house name), so I unpublished mine. Still waiting for his reply, will try again later (at the moment it's the last comment on the blog post by creativebarbwire a.k.a. yours truly)...

Bruce Borders | 22 comments Barbara, thanks for the suggestion! I did post the comment to the Smashwords blog post.

Français: Il n'ya a pas de quoi

any more suggestions? :)

Mike Bove (mikebove) | 2 comments A nice addition to the Smashwords book page.
I have set mine up: https://www.smashwords.com/interview/...
I used some suggested questions and others from other interviews.
We need more readers visiting Smashwords; this will help bring some in.

His latest blog post states that the interviews have now been set up to work for publishers. :-)
