The Wolves of Midwinter!!

Hi Guys,

I'm SO excited about the sequel to The Wolf Gift soon the be released! Are you guys following this series? I know a lot of people hated The Wolf Gift, but I enjoyed it. I'm really excited to be reading an advanced reader copy of The Wolves of Midwinter (it's the sequel). I'll be sure to post my review on Goodreads in case you guys can't wait to hear how it is before the book is out! Don't worry, no spoilers.

I just wanted to create a topic for the Wolf Gift and the Wolves of Midwinter series thus far. Thoughts, Comments, Questions, etc!

i am beyond excited for this. i loved the wolf gift! though i am curious as to how you get to be lucky enough to get the ARC? im relatively new to GoodReads, but is there a way to sign up for it? or am misunderstanding the entire thing haha.

I cannot wait for this book!! I was so excited when Anne Rice wrote The Wolf Gift, because it was back to her dark world. I enjoyed her angel collection, but she does the dark side of existence the best. No other author transports me to the world of their stories like Anne Rice does. She is a master of her craft.

I'm not sure which I prefer... I need to think about it and answer after I read Wolves of Midwinter.

Anne Rice did say she plans to continue the Toby Dare Angel series...and Wolf Gift Chronicles...

I enjoyed the Angel Time series. It's Anne Rice's writing, what's not to like, she makes you get lost in history. But what I like about Her writing is the fact that she develops these characters and then let's them decide the fate of the story. Her stories are not stories of convenience, where the plot and characters do what a preconceived ending needs them to do. I felt that with the Angel Time series, she sometimes let 'miracles' happen, just to fit the story.
I hope it makes sense...
I also think she conceives her darker stories much more imaginatively. She's better at it.

I get what you're saying. I never really considered that before...but I can see it with the Angel Time stories. Something felt different about them, and it wasn't the subject matter. Maybe the time travel element made her tempted to be more controlling of her characters' fates? Why do you think she changed it for that series and then went back to her normal character arcs. In Wolf Gift?
I do think The Wolf Gift felt more like Vampire Chronicles as far as classic Rice doing what she does best. Angel Time had a whole separate feel , very..cold? I wanna say?
